Job Description

The Associate Motion Designer at 5:00 Films & Media designs and animates motion graphics and graphic design assets across digital, video, and print. The role reports to the Art Director and is based in Columbia, MD, with in-office work three days per week.

Responsibilities

Design and animate basic-to-intermediate graphics, typography, and visual elements for digital, video, and social platforms.
Create motion graphics templates for social content and update periodically with new content.
Prepare design assets for workflows across video, animation, and motion graphics projects.
Stay current with trends and techniques in motion design.
Design layouts and visual assets for print and digital, including brochures, one-pagers, and branded materials.
Maintain visual consistency across formats and channels.
Support senior designers on more complex projects.
Stay current with trends and techniques in graphic design.
Take direction from the Art Director and apply feedback through iteration.
Collaborate with other designers and video producers on creative projects.
Manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
Contribute to a collaborative, respectful, and creative team environment.

Requirements

Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator, Photoshop, and After Effects.
Strong foundational design skills: layout, typography, color, visual hierarchy.
Working knowledge of animation principles, timing, and motion graphics.
Familiarity with designing for digital and social media platforms.
Ability to take direction, apply feedback, and iterate thoughtfully.
Strong attention to detail and time management.
A portfolio or reel (student work and personal projects are welcome; for collaborative work, describe your specific contributions.)
Bachelor's degree in graphic design, animation, or equivalent experience.

Compensation
