Job Description

Accenture Song is seeking a Visual Design Manager/Lead to set and own visual design direction and narrative across engagements, ensuring visual excellence standards and consistently high-quality, cohesive design outcomes. The role is onsite in San Diego, CA and combines leadership, hands-on craft, client-facing communication, mentoring, and the responsible embedding of AI into visual design workflows.

Role Overview

You will lead visual design from concept through delivery across internal and client engagements, establishing accountability for design quality, aesthetic cohesion, and delivery against project timelines. The position requires strong conceptual thinking, the ability to translate abstract briefs and brand strategy into clear visual languages, and experience shaping both the vision and the details that make outcomes succeed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own visual design direction on engagements from concept to delivery, maintaining accountability for design quality, aesthetic cohesion, and timeline adherence.
  • Translate abstract briefs, brand strategy, and audience insights into compelling visual languages.
  • Set and defend a high visual craft standard while directing creation of brand identities, design systems, motion, typography, illustration, and digital experiences.
  • Balance visionary leadership with hands-on execution by defining creative direction while staying close to the work and producing high-quality output with your team.
  • Use AI tools to accelerate concepting, iteration, and production, and model how these tools enhance creative thinking rather than replacing it.
  • Act as a leading creative voice in client discussions, presenting your visual perspective and translating design rationale into strategic narratives for complex, high-pressure decisions.
  • Document how AI changes visual design workflows, quantify impact on delivery quality and team performance, and evolve practice-level ways of working.
  • Support proposals, create case studies, and develop thought leadership from project learnings that highlights visual design capabilities.
  • Identify and shape new creative opportunities with existing clients, partnering with account leads to build a compelling point of view around brand, design system, or experience challenges.
  • Manage, support, and mentor visual designers in day-to-day work, helping them strengthen craft, build creative confidence, navigate challenges, and grow independence.
  • Contribute consistently to the Visual Design craft by sharing methods, references, and outcomes from projects and helping evolve the discipline.

Required Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in Visual Design across a range of industries, brand types, platforms, and visual contexts.
  • 4+ years leading visual design engagements end-to-end from creative concepting and visual strategy through production-ready delivery.
  • 4+ years directing creation of brand identities, design systems, typography, motion, illustration, and digital UI with a strong, consistent visual voice.
  • 4+ years producing and directing high-fidelity visual work with exceptional attention to detail, including pixel-perfect deliverables and developer-ready specifications.
  • 3+ years directly managing or coaching visual designers, with a track record of developing contributors into stronger, more independent practitioners.
  • 3+ years working in agile and cross-functional environments, collaborating with product designers, product managers, engineers, and strategists.
  • 3+ years delivering high-caliber visual design that has shipped at scale, solved complex product or brand challenges, and delivered measurable impact across customer experiences and business goals.
  • Experience driving ground visual design decisions with a deep understanding of user experience (UX).
  • Experience building and contributing to scalable design systems for visual consistency across products, platforms, and channels.
  • Experience embedding AI tools and workflows into visual design practice, from concept generation and mood-boarding to rapid iteration and team modeling.
  • Recent hands-on work in tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Claude Design, and relevant motion, illustration, or AI design tools, with the role not limited to management.
  • Facilitation skills and creative presence, including the ability to present visual strategy and design rationale to senior client stakeholders and guide decisions under pressure.
