Visual Design Manager
Job Description
Accenture Song’s Design & Digital Products practice is hiring a Visual Design Manager in Austin, TX (onsite). In this role, you will set visual direction across engagements, lead craft standards for design output, and mentor designers while using AI to strengthen visual design workflows and delivery outcomes.
Role Scope
You will own the visual design direction and narrative from concept to delivery. This includes translating briefs, brand strategy, and audience insights into cohesive visual languages, guiding teams through key creative decisions, and maintaining accountability for design quality and aesthetic consistency against project timelines.
Responsibilities
- Lead visual design direction on internal or client engagements from concept through delivery, with accountability for design quality, aesthetic cohesion, and project timelines.
- Translate abstract briefs, brand strategy, and audience insights into clear, compelling visual languages.
- Set and defend a high visual craft standard directing the creation of brand identities, design systems, motion, typography, illustration, and digital experiences.
- Operate as both visionary and hands-on: define creative direction while staying close to the work, shaping key design decisions and producing high-quality output alongside your team.
- Use AI tools to accelerate concepting, iteration, and production, while modeling how these tools enhance creative thinking rather than replacing it.
- Serve as a leading creative voice in client discussions, sharing visual perspective and translating design rationale into strategic narratives for complex, high-pressure decisions.
- Document how AI is changing visual design workflows, quantify its impact on delivery quality and team performance, and evolve practice-level ways of working.
- Contribute to proposals, create case studies from your work, and develop thought leadership that reflects visual design capabilities and project learnings.
- Identify and shape new creative opportunities with existing clients by recognizing openings related to brand, design systems, or experience challenges, and partnering with account leads to build a point of view.
- Manage, support, and mentor team members in day-to-day work, strengthening visual craft and creative confidence while helping designers navigate challenges.
- Remain an engaged contributor to the Visual Design craft by sharing methods, references, and outcomes to support the evolution of the discipline.
Required Experience
- 7+ years of experience in Visual Design across a range of industries, brand types, platforms, and visual contexts.
- 4+ years leading visual design engagements end-to-end, including creative concepting and visual strategy through production-ready delivery.
- 4+ years directing the creation of brand identities, design systems, typography, motion, illustration, and digital UI with a consistent visual voice.
- 4+ years producing and directing high-fidelity visual work with exceptional attention to detail, including pixel-perfect deliverables and developer-ready specifications.
- 3+ years directly managing or coaching visual designers, demonstrating ability to develop contributors into more independent practitioners.
- 3+ years working in agile and cross-functional environments with product designers, product managers, engineers, and strategists.
- 3+ years delivering high-caliber visual design work shipped at scale, addressing complex product or brand challenges and driving measurable impact.
- Experience grounding visual design decisions in deep understanding of user experience (UX).
- Experience building and contributing to scalable design systems that maintain visual consistency across products, platforms, and channels.
- Experience embedding AI tools and workflows into visual design practices, from concept generation and mood-boarding to rapid iteration and team modeling.
- Recent hands-on experience using tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Claude Design, and relevant motion, illustration, or AI design tools.
- Experience with facilitation and creative presence, presenting visual strategy and design rationale to senior stakeholders and guiding decisions under pressure.
