Job Description
FIS Global is looking for a UI/UX Software Engineer to join its fintech focused front-end team in a hybrid Chicago-based role. The position centers on delivering high-fidelity interfaces, translating Figma designs into accessible, production-ready front-end solutions, and upholding quality standards in SaaS fintech environments. Note: sponsorship is not available for this position, and the role operates on a hybrid schedule with onsite days at Chicago, Milwaukee, or Jacksonville offices.
Location
Hybrid (3 days onsite) in Chicago, IL with additional office locations in Milwaukee, WI and Jacksonville, FL.
Compensation
USD 79,230 - 134,700 per year
Responsibilities
- UI Implementation: Take ownership of building high-fidelity, visually consistent interfaces using a shared design system, ensuring every feature aligns with business objectives.
- UX & Product Thinking: Collaborate with Product and Design to understand user personas and pain points, proactively identifying UX gaps to enhance the user journey.
- Design System Fidelity: Translate Figma designs into responsive layouts using design tokens and shared styles, maintaining information hierarchy and visual alignment.
- Accessibility & Quality: Implement accessible markup (Semantic HTML, keyboard navigation, WCAG standards) and perform thorough UI testing to ensure front-end reliability and performance.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay current with front-end trends and design system best practices to minimize technical debt and avoid UX regressions.
Requirements
- Experience: 1-3+ years of front-end software engineering, preferably in SaaS or FinTech.
- Technical Expertise: Strong proficiency in ReactJs, TypeScript, and modern CSS/SCSS; solid understanding of RESTful API consumption. Familiarity with testing suites (Jest/Cypress) and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Git) is highly valued.
- Innovation & AI: Interest in emerging technologies and AI-assisted development tools; demonstrated ability to contribute to forward-thinking solutions.
- Tools: Experience with Jira, Confluence, and Figma (or similar design hand-off tools) is a plus.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze complex user flows, propose effective technical solutions, and implement them with performance and maintainability in mind.
- Collaborative Spirit: Strong communication skills and ability to articulate UI decisions to contribute to a positive, inclusive workplace culture.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field is preferred.
