UI/UX Developer
Job Description
The UI/UX Developer role at Sciome in Research Triangle Park, NC focuses on building and sustaining desktop and web applications, with an emphasis on frontend user experience. You will collaborate with scientists and engineers to turn user needs into usable interfaces through design work and implementation, testing, and ongoing maintenance.
What You’ll Do
- Contribute to the design, implementation, testing, and maintenance of several new and ongoing desktop and web applications.
- Develop frontend UI for web applications based on user stories.
- Create wire-frames, mockups, and prototypes for web application features.
- Participate in design meetings and code reviews.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will support the full frontend lifecycle: translating requirements into UI, producing interface design assets, implementing the frontend, and helping ensure quality through testing and maintenance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related field) or relevant, related work experience.
- At least 2 years of experience as a professional front end or web developer.
- Experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, HTML, and CSS.
- Experience building frontend applications using libraries and frameworks such as LitElement, React, Angular, or Vue.
- Experience designing intuitive, responsive user interfaces.
- Ability to translate user needs into frontend code.
- Experience participating in high quality code and design reviews.

Preferred Candidate Qualifications
- Knowledge of frontend build processes and tools such as vite, webpack, and bower.
- Experience writing unit test cases.
- Experience with Web Components and related libraries including LitElement and Polymer.
- Experience using Git and version control.
- Previous exposure to scientific applications and/or scientific data analysis.
