Job Description

Full-time CTE classroom teaching role in Graphic Design and Digital Publications (Yearbook) for the 2026-2027 school year in Mesa, Arizona.

Summary

The classroom instructor will translate district curriculum standards into meaningful learning experiences, maintain a positive and appropriate educational environment, and develop a program that supports the intellectual and emotional needs of all students.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of the subject matter, instructional methods, and available resources
  • Employs diverse instructional strategies and classroom management approaches
  • Accounts for individual learning needs and district goals when planning and delivering lessons, materials, and assessments
  • Incorporates district-approved textbooks and curriculum guides into planning and instruction
  • Integrates higher order thinking and real-world applications into lesson plans
  • Develops instructional and assessment materials aligned to objectives and instructional approaches
  • Leverages technology and instructional media to enhance learning experiences
  • Routinely collects student achievement data using tests, projects, demonstrations, and checklists, and uses findings to inform teaching and management decisions
  • Maintains positive classroom management in line with regulations
  • Builds positive relationships with students and maintains open communication with students and parents regarding progress
  • Collaborates with parents and school staff to provide appropriate education for each student
  • Produces, uses, and maintains records related to achievement, attendance, and discipline
  • Creates a safe, positive learning environment
  • Actively participates in establishing and supporting school goals and addressing concerns
  • Sets high expectations for all students
  • Assists with other duties as assigned within the Mesa Public Schools system

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Active Arizona Teaching Certification
  • Prior teaching experience
  • Experience as an associate teacher, student teaching, or practicum

New Hire Experience

  • $500 for each full-time year of certified teaching or verified equivalent experience

New Hire Education

  • $65 per graduate-level credit with BA +45 hours max, MA +60 hours max; up to $1000 for advanced degrees

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Traditional classroom setup with desks, whiteboards, and digital tools such as projectors or interactive televisions
  • Supervises students in hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, and outdoor spaces as needed
  • Typically an 8-hour workday, with extended hours for parent conferences, professional development, and extracurricular activities
  • Engages with diverse student populations, manages behavior, and addresses learning differences
  • Requires standing and moving around the classroom or campus for extended periods
  • May lift teaching materials and supplies, generally under 20 lbs, occasionally more
