Sr. Motion Designer/Editor
Job Description
TEGNA Design Tank seeks a seasoned motion designer/editor to shape moving visuals for broadcast, streaming, and digital campaigns. In this role, you will collaborate with News, Paid Growth, Sales and Corporate teams to lead design initiatives and deliver scalable templates and assets across multiple platforms.
As a senior contributor, you will craft high-quality motion graphics, animations, MoGRTs, and visual effects that align with project goals and brand standards, while promoting best practices to ensure consistency and efficiency across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Develop top-quality motion graphics, animations, MoGRTs, and visual effects that meet project objectives and brand guidelines, applying and sharing best practices to ensure consistency, efficiency, and scalability across teams and platforms.
- Cultivate strong working relationships with Regional Marketing Directors and the Head of Consumer Marketing to understand business needs, champion design excellence, and craft scalable creative solutions that empower producers company-wide.
- Serve as an alternate contact for station, marketing, and corporate projects.
- Support onboarding and can delegate training for new hires.
- Lead team projects as the project lead and act as the design lead for pilots and larger initiatives.
- Work with a diverse client base across all TEGNA stations, delivering under tight deadlines while multitasking to meet competing demands.
- Mentor other designers, helping to grow their skills and lift overall team output.
Requirements
- Formal training in design or the arts through a trade program or college is required.
- An associate or bachelor's degree is required.
- At least eight years as a motion graphics designer at a local news station supporting marketing, branding, and daily news; sales support experience is a plus.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, especially After Effects and Premiere.
- Solid design and editing capabilities.
- Interest in applying artificial intelligence where it adds value.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to perform under tight deadlines and serve as design team lead.
- Excellent spelling and grammar.
- Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
