Job Description

Epsilon is hiring a Senior UI-UX Designer in Chicago, IL to evolve the CORE UI design system and deliver high-fidelity, motion-rich, accessible enterprise SaaS interfaces. This role works closely with Product Design and Engineering to prototype, ship production-ready components, and improve build-to-code quality using AI-assisted workflows.

Role Focus

In this position, you will own ongoing improvements to Epsilon’s CORE UI design system, supporting both the token architecture and the quality of components and interaction standards across Figma and production code. You will also define a product motion language and partner with front-end engineers to align design intent with production implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the continuous evolution of the CORE UI design system, including token architecture, component quality, and interaction standards across Figma and production code.
  • Create future-facing prototypes to explore emerging interaction patterns, next-generation UI concepts, and new product directions.
  • Rapidly iterate on existing components using AI-assisted workflows to shorten build-to-code cycles while maintaining quality and consistency with tools such as Cursor, Copilot, and v0.
  • Define and champion a motion language for the product, including easing curves, transition choreography, loading states, and micro-interactions.
  • Collaborate closely with front-end engineers by reviewing implementations, writing production-quality CSS and component code when needed, and setting expectations for what “done” means.
  • Contribute to system documentation, usage guidance, and adoption to help product teams build with consistency and confidence.
  • Apply AI-native design practices to accelerate exploration, reduce repetitive work, and support higher-quality outcomes at scale.
  • Work with Product Designers on complex interaction flows, ensuring edge cases, empty states, and loading moments are thoughtfully designed.
  • Mentor and set a high standard in the design organization through design critiques, system reviews, and cross-functional handoffs.
  • Apply WCAG accessibility standards across component and interaction design at the system level.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in UI development, engineering, creative engineering, or a related hybrid field, with a portfolio showing shipped SaaS or digital product work.
  • Hands-on experience evolving a design system across Figma (component libraries, design tokens, documentation) and code (React components, Storybook, token pipelines).
  • Strong motion sensibility, with experience designing and implementing micro-interactions, transitions, and animation systems that feel purposeful and on-brand.
  • Proficiency using AI tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, v0, Framer AI, or similar to accelerate design-to-code workflows and component iteration.
  • Fluency in high-fidelity interactive prototyping capable of simulating final product experiences to validate ideas before full build.
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS (including animations, transitions, and custom properties), and JavaScript/TypeScript to implement and critically review production UI.
  • Excellent visual design judgment across typography, spacing, color, density, and layout decisions at component and product-surface levels.
  • An accessible online portfolio featuring live, interactive work, including demonstrated motion and interaction work beyond static screens.

Additional Signals for Strong Fit

  • Experience building or significantly contributing to a scaled design system used across multiple product teams.
  • Motion and interaction work shown through easing references, transition demos, or prototypes where movement is as deliberate as appearance.
  • AI tools used to change exploration, prototyping, and validation workflows rather than only accelerating code writing.
  • Comfort iterating on component states in Figma and implementing the same components in code.
  • Belief that enterprise SaaS should match the interaction polish of top consumer experiences, with proof delivered in production.
  • Design system documentation and component stories that designers and engineers actually want to use.
  • Systems thinking, treating isolated component requests as opportunities to introduce durable patterns.
  • Experience with motion libraries (Framer Motion, GSAP, CSS @keyframes) and balancing performance with visual delight in production.
  • Experience contributing to or leading prototyping initiatives that shape product strategy.
