Job Description

Partly is an AI research company building replacement parts product experiences where accuracy matters and the cost of a wrong answer is real. As a Senior Product Designer in Austin, you will help shape how agentic and generative interfaces behave in practice, working closely with engineers, prototypes, and customer research from day one.

What you’ll do

  • Own the design system that engineers and coding agents use to build AI experiences.
  • Shape and ship patterns for agentic and generative experiences.
  • Define product behavior when the system is uncertain.
  • Give the product its character, with consistent quality across every touchpoint.
  • Hold the bar across the whole product surface, not just a single feature.
  • Work with real prototypes built inside the design system.
  • Pair directly with engineers, with no hand-offs.
  • Spend real time with customers to ground design decisions.
  • Write the principles and rules that guide the system.

How this role sits in the team

  • Product teams are organized around a product, each led by a Product Lead (Principal Product Manager) and supported by a Product Engineer plus a mix of engineers.
  • Design is not embedded in those teams. Partly is building a global design team focused on the design system, coherence across the product family, and experience quality wherever a repairer or supplier interacts with the product.
  • You lead with design across problem framing, systems thinking, interaction, and craft.
  • Product Leads own their products and what ships, while you own the principles, patterns, and system the teams build from.
  • You set your own agenda for where the system needs to go next, and you call out when something ships below the bar.

What you bring

  • At least 5 years of senior-level design experience, evidenced.
  • Demonstrated experience designing agentic experiences, with work you can show.
  • Systems thinking and craft that holds up in production.
  • Product judgement and the ability to balance quality across multiple product teams at once.
  • Curiosity about Partly’s customers.
  • Clear written, verbal, and visual communication.

Useful background

  • Experience designing workflow-heavy, data-dense, or technically complex B2B products.
  • Familiarity with marketplace, catalogue, e-commerce, or supply chain domains (automotive is a bonus).
  • Experience in high-growth startup and scale-up environments.
  • Experience working with a global, distributed design team.

How you’ll build at Partly

  • Partly is an AI research company that builds like one.
  • In discovery mode, designers can use Claude Code to build a working version inside the design system, run it against real data, and show a customer the feature with their own jobs in flight.
  • In scale mode, engineering rebuilds what’s proven.
  • Prototype code is not shipped to production; it’s used to determine what production should become.
  • Designers work in both discovery and scale modes.

About the opportunity

Repairers train for years to use the tools, then spend much of their day on quotes, paperwork, and finding parts. Partly’s product aims to automate the admin so repairers can focus on their craft. This year’s products start with a conversation, and a system generates the interface when it is needed, turning component and pattern design into an AI assembly process.
