Job Description

Senior Product Designer to own eyewear concept development and sketch-to-production support across North America and Italy.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and prepare eyewear sketches for new concepts based on licensor specifications and requests.
  • Partner with product development and line planning teams in N.A. and Italy to research and develop proprietary, innovative construction details (hardware, material combinations, production and design approaches, techniques).
  • Produce fully resolved sketchbooks and renderings in Illustrator for presentations to licensors.
  • Create detailed technical drawings for prototyping, including section drawings, exploded views, and written notes.
  • Support prototype and CAD assessment and revisions, and follow through to help ensure drawings are translated accurately for product development.
  • Interpret trends using overall N.A. eyewear and fashion signals to inform current and future product concepts.
  • Provide direction on product concepts aligned to the collection strategy while incorporating N.A. trends.
  • Analyze domestic and competitive markets to identify new products and market trends while maintaining brand identity and business strategy.
  • Lead exploratory development of materials and techniques in close collaboration with the N.A. development and line planning team.
  • Attend industry conferences and trade shows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree of Industrial Design from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum 5 years of design experience in a specialty retailer or distribution/sales environment with working knowledge of the production process.
  • Experience in luxury accessories (eyewear preferred; jewelry hardware, and fashion accessories also considered).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Project management skills.
  • Full proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, 3D Modeling (Rhinoceros or similar), and 3D rendering (Keyshot).
  • Past or current experience in a sales distribution business.
  • Exposure to Italian culture and language proficiency (a plus).
  • Domestic and international travel may be required.
  • Adobe Creative Suite: 5 years (Required).
  • CAD: 3 years (Required).
