Serval is seeking an onsite Senior Motion Designer in New York, NY. This role offers the chance to shape the visual language across product UI/UX, brand, and marketing through high quality 2D and 3D animation, while building scalable motion systems that empower multiple teams.

Responsibilities
- Lead the creation of high quality motion graphics, animations, and graphic video content across product UI/UX, marketing campaigns, brand storytelling, social content, promos, trailers, and more.
- Operate hands-on from storyboarding and styleframes to animatics and final motion design delivery, utilizing both 2D and 3D techniques to bring ideas to life.
- Establish, evolve, and maintain motion design guidelines, templates, and toolkits that scale across teams and projects, including product UI, brand campaigns, and social content.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product designers, UI/UX teams, engineers, marketing, and other creatives to ensure motion supports both user experience and brand objectives.
- Manage multiple projects, including scoping, scheduling, and delivering motion work on time while upholding high creative and technical standards.
Requirements
- 7+ years of professional experience in motion graphics and animation, including both product-facing and campaign/marketing work.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating a range of expressive motion design including brand storytelling, marketing content, product UI/UX animations, and social/digital assets.
- Deep understanding of animation fundamentals such as timing, spacing, anticipation, composition, visual rhythm, and design sensibility.
- Expert proficiency with industry-standard tools, notably After Effects, Illustrator, and Photoshop; experience with Figma, Cinema 4D, or Blender is preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, respond to feedback, iterate quickly, and manage multiple deliverables under deadlines.

Nice to Have
- Experience developing or maintaining motion systems, design toolkits, or templates for scalability across projects.
- Background in both motion for product (UI/UX) and motion for brand/marketing/advertising.
- Graphic design fluency, with solid layout, hierarchy, and typography instincts to build and adapt visual assets directly, plus good judgment on when motion adds clarity or when a strong still is preferable.
- Comfort working across 2D and 3D motion, with familiarity in compositing, post-production, and optimization for different platforms (web, mobile, social, broadcast).
- Experience mentoring or leading a small team of designers/animators, offering creative guidance and review.
