Job Description
Nike is seeking a Senior Manager for NFL and MLB apparel graphic design, based onsite in Beaverton, Oregon, to lead narrative-driven branding across Nike product spaces.
Responsibilities
- Develop narrative concepts for NFL uniform graphics and related product areas, communicating ideas through Graphic Visual Centers and formal presentations.
- Collaborate with internal and external Product and Design partners to align on construction, development, insights, and presentation milestones.
- Partner closely with Uniform Design teammates to shape the future of sport visuals for the NFL.
- Guide brainstorm sessions on creative strategy and lead reviews to evaluate whether designs achieve intended goals.
- Work with the Design Director, Product Leadership, and external NFL partners to advance narrative driven uniform design across the NFL.
- Report to the NFL Uniforms Design Director and coordinate with cross-functional internal teams and key external NFL collaborators.
Requirements
- Creative design portfolio submission is required; provide website links or attach PDF files when applying.
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 8+ years of graphic design experience, preferably in product creation (footwear/apparel) or agency settings.
- Well-curated portfolio showcasing research, inspiration, design development, problem solving, process, and final execution.
- Experience working directly with a diverse range of consumers and athletes.
- History contributing to in-depth research that informs product storytelling.
- Positive attitude when tackling challenging briefs and navigating ambiguity to reach completion.
- Ability to prioritize workload across short-term and long-range projects with varying complexity.
- Capacity to motivate and mentor designers and teammates within project contexts.
- Self-awareness with the ability to articulate strengths, opportunities, and takeaways.
- Stays connected to sport, culture, and graphic design trends.
- Expert knowledge of product design, including ideation, development, specification, and final execution balancing innovation, performance, and style.
- High proficiency in Adobe Illustrator is required; InDesign and Photoshop are a plus.
- Creative agility with innovative thinking, visioning, and problem solving.
- Competency in 3D design tools is a plus, with a willingness to learn emphasized.
- Strong narrative development and communication skills, including presenting to senior leadership and external partners.
- Deep understanding of Typography, Color Theory, Brand Identity, and Design Principles.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with cross-team collaboration capabilities.
- A passion for storytelling and the ability to translate narratives into compelling visual elements.
