Job Description

The PRI Creative team at Haymarket Media, Inc. is hiring a Senior Art Director to lead high-quality visual work across print, digital, and event deliverables. This hybrid role is based in Paramus, NJ, with three days in office depending on business needs.

Role Overview

In this position, you will provide creative leadership and oversee design execution from concept through final delivery. The Senior Art Director ensures visual output aligns with brand standards, client objectives, and production specifications, while collaborating closely with internal teams and external partners to maintain consistent, technically accurate work across platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee high-quality visual content across print, digital, and event deliverables, ensuring alignment with brand standards, client objectives, and production specifications.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Creative Director, designers, development, and cross-functional teams, including scientific writers, editorial, client services, program management, and marketing, to support visual consistency, innovation, and technical excellence.
  • Create mock-ups and visual materials for pitches, presentations, and proposals.
  • Present design work directly to clients, defend creative concepts, and incorporate client feedback while maintaining creative integrity.
  • Guide the creative process from concept through final execution, keeping each project aligned to the original vision.
  • Act as a bridge between client services, internal teams, and external production partners by reviewing deliverables and maintaining high standards for visual quality and technical accuracy.
  • Ensure projects are delivered with strategic intent and strong attention to detail from kickoff through release.
  • Provide occasional travel for client meetings, presentations, pitch collaborations, or live press checks.
  • Mentor and direct junior and mid-level designers.
  • Develop and present high-level creative concepts, visual narratives, and design systems aligned with project goals, client needs, and brand identity.
  • Think strategically about design to create visually compelling solutions that support business objectives and marketing or branding goals.
  • Assist the Associate Creative Director with brand strategy, serving as an expert on client and internal brand guidelines.
  • Produce high-quality, strategically sound visual designs across print, digital, web, branding, and event materials.
  • Review and refine design work to uphold brand consistency, design integrity, and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with writers, marketing, editorial, and developers to support cohesive storytelling and visual communication.
  • Oversee presentation production, including high-stakes pitch decks (PowerPoint and Google Slides), templates, and custom proposal deliverables.
  • Generate design concepts, mock-ups, custom program materials, and final designs based on client-selected comps.
  • Create custom images, graphic elements, charts, figures, data visualizations, and infographics to improve communication.
  • Perform image sourcing, photo manipulation, and digital asset creation and edits for web and multi-format distribution.
  • Stay current on design trends, emerging technologies, and industry tools to support continuous creative improvement.
  • Provide end-to-end quality control oversight, including meticulous self-QC and peer reviews throughout design and production.
  • Prepare, package, and finalize files for print or web production, supporting pre-press setup, color management, and release specifications for developers, printers, or clients.
  • Review and approve printer proofs and attend press checks as needed to support print quality, color fidelity, and paper stock accuracy.
  • Provide hands-on production support, including inputting edits or corrections, reformatting layouts, and releasing files.
  • Support web production and digital asset collection by optimizing designs for multiple platforms and formats.
  • Participate in team briefings and kick-off meetings to align on project goals and execution strategies.
  • Manage projects and tasks within WorkFront, monitoring workflows, project scopes, and timelines.
  • Liaise with printers and outside vendors by providing detailed specifications, addressing questions, and coordinating order forms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Graphic Design, Graphic Arts, or a related field).
  • Minimum 15+ years of experience in publishing, advertising, media, or agency environments.
  • Pharmaceutical industry experience is a plus.
  • Superior design skills with a portfolio that demonstrates work across digital, print, branding, event materials, and marketing deliverables.
  • Expertise with industry-standard tools, including Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), Figma, Google Suite (Google Slides), and Microsoft Office (especially PowerPoint).
  • Strong understanding of printing processes, paper types, pre-press preparation, color management (CMYK/Pantone), pre-flight file release, and vendor collaboration.
  • Experience with WorkFront is a plus, but not required.
  • Ability and willingness to learn and use the platform to manage tasks, workflows, timelines, and project deadlines.
  • Meticulous, deadline-driven approach with strong time management for multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication to collaborate effectively across departments and present to clients.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary range: $100,000 - $125,000 per year.
  • Compensation will be commensurate with experience, skill level, functional and/or industry knowledge, education level, certifications, and other qualifications.
