Job Description

Obviant seeks its first dedicated Product Designer (UI/UX) to define design strategy and lead end-to-end experiences for a defense-focused data platform, with on-site responsibilities in Arlington, Virginia.

Location

Arlington, VA (onsite)

Compensation

USD 160,000 – 225,000 per year

Responsibilities

  • Establish the initial UX and UI direction for the organization, articulating design goals and standards.
  • Lead the full product design lifecycle, including discovery, user research, rapid prototyping, wireframes, visual design, and hand-off to developers.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to translate user needs and business objectives into intuitive experiences.
  • Generate and iterate multiple design concepts rapidly to solve complex problems and guide product direction.
  • Produce high-fidelity UI assets ready for production for web and mobile platforms.
  • Develop and maintain a scalable design system and pattern library to ensure consistency across products.
  • Design user journeys, interaction models, information architecture, and usability testing processes, owning their execution.
  • Advocate for a user-centered, data-informed design approach, using research and feedback to refine the product experience.
  • Provide design leadership and proactively identify opportunities to improve usability and aesthetics.
  • Stay current with design trends, tools, and practices, pushing boundaries to deliver meaningful user experiences.
  • Present design decisions clearly and foster confidence and enthusiasm for design across the organization.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in UI/UX, interaction, or product design, with startup or high-growth environments preferred.
  • A strong, diverse portfolio demonstrating process and impact on shipped digital products.
  • Proven track record taking products from concept to launch, including ideation, prototyping, design, and iteration in fast-paced contexts.
  • Proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools such as Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Ability to generate and articulate multiple compelling design solutions for complex problems.
  • Strong visual and written communication skills, capable of presenting to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Comfort with autonomous work, priority management, and identifying high-impact design opportunities.
  • Experience designing for enterprise, B2B SaaS, or defense/government sectors is a plus.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards, responsive design, and usability best practices.
  • Passion for defense-oriented technology and a commitment to understanding user needs and challenges.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance.
