Product Designer
Job Description
The Product Designer role at Glassdoor focuses on defining and building user-friendly product experiences. You will partner with product, research, engineering, and leadership to design features and flows, support accessibility, and carry work from early concept through post-production.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with leaders, product partners, and cross-functional teams to define and build user-friendly products that consider functionality and technical constraints.
- Advocate for customers and coordinate across teams to help deliver a consistent user experience across job seeker and employer journeys.
- Own design work from concept through post-production.
- Use system thinking to address flows that impact consumers and employers.
- Create and iterate on sketches, wireframes, user flows, designs, and prototypes.
- Support complex user flows with attention to detail, legibility, comprehension, and accessibility.
- Partner with product managers, user experience researchers, and engineers to validate concepts and support feasible delivery.
- Design product features, flows, and interactions aligned to user needs and business goals.
- Use sketches, wireframes, prototypes, and design system patterns to explore and communicate design concepts.
- Improve clarity for AI-powered and personalized experiences through interaction design, thoughtful states, and usability-focused execution.
- Test and refine solutions using qualitative and quantitative user data, partnering across product, engineering, research, and design.
- Provide design recommendations that inform product tradeoffs, direction, and priorities.
- Support implementation by working closely with engineering during design and development.
- Manage and prioritize milestones across projects within a flexible, remote-first environment.
- Contribute to team culture through critique, UX initiatives, or participation in hiring.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Human Computer Interaction, Information Design, or a related field with at least 5 years of related experience; or a Master’s degree with at least 3 years of experience; or a PhD with no experience requirement.
- Portfolio demonstrating a clear design process and user-centered product experience work.
- Proficiency with Figma, AI prototyping tools, and design systems.
- Experience designing complex product experiences such as B2B products, data-heavy platforms, AI-assisted, personalized, or recommendation-based features.
- Ability to work through ambiguity while balancing strategy, execution, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Ability to apply design methods and existing frameworks to produce quality work on a timely basis.
- Understanding of accessibility, inclusive design, and native mobile app experience design.
