Product Designer
Job Description
The Product Designer role within Helen of Troy's Home & Outdoor division focuses on delivering innovative seasonal gear carrying solutions from concept through pre-production. The position may support OXO, Osprey, and Hydro Flask brands. Location is Cortez, CO with a hybrid work arrangement, and the annual salary ranges from USD 70,000 - 80,000. A Bachelor’s Degree in Product (Physical Product) or Industrial Design and at least 3 years of experience are expected.
Responsibilities
- Deliver innovative seasonal designs and manage special projects from concept to pre-production.
- Research industry trends and product functionality to identify design opportunities that offer new market value.
- Develop product specifications and tech packs in Adobe Illustrator to support sampling.
- Conceptualize forward looking solutions for pack designs, features, components, and accessories.
- Collaborate with the Sample Room to translate designs into aesthetically pleasing, manufacturable products.
- Prototype, test, and review design concepts to deliver functional, high-quality solutions.
- Present design thinking at product reviews using sketches, prototypes, color boards, CAD, and related visuals.
- Engage with suppliers and developers to source appropriate materials.
- Develop custom components using CAD and rapid prototyping techniques.
- Explore, refine, and specify pack color, trims, and graphic details.
- Investigate material manufacturing methods to inform design decisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Product (Physical Product) or Industrial Design.
- 3+ years of professional product design experience in bags, packs, and soft goods.
- Portfolio submission required with application (PDF or website) showing hand sketches and the full design process, including early concepts, ideation, iteration, refinement, and final outcomes.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and MS Office.
- Understanding of sewn, soft and hard goods, seaming and blocking construction, and material properties.
- Ability to travel internationally to Asia (Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia, China, South Korea) 15-20% of the time.
- Ability to participate in evening or early morning calls as needed.
- Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Product (Physical Product) or Industrial Design.
- 3+ years of professional product design experience in bags, packs, and soft goods.
- Portfolio submission required with application (PDF or website) demonstrating hand-sketching and the full design process, including early concepts, ideation, iteration, and refinement, in addition to final product outcomes.
- Proficiency in software such as Adobe Creative Cloud including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign; MS Office.
