Operations SCADA UI/UX Engineer

EthosEnergy Group is building and supporting operations software for its Remote Operations Center (ROC), and this SCADA UI/UX role sits at the intersection of industrial data, operator graphics, and standardization. Working remote from Houston, TX, you will help develop and maintain SCADA/HMI applications in the EthosEnergy ROC using AVEVA System Platform, supporting both real-time monitoring and ongoing improvements to operator situational awareness.

What you’ll do

• Develop, configure, and maintain SCADA applications using AVEVA System Platform and related technologies.
• Create and maintain object templates, symbols, graphic libraries, dashboards, and reusable application components.
• Configure alarms, trends, equipment status indicators, KPIs, and operational displays for ROC operations.
• Support continuous improvement of ROC SCADA applications and monitoring tools.
• Maintain application documentation, design standards, and object libraries.
• Configure and maintain tag mappings between customer systems and ROC applications.
• Integrate operational data from PI System, OPC DA/UA, historians, DCS platforms, PLCs, and other industrial systems.
• Validate data quality, scaling, equipment status, alarm conditions, and operational functionality.
• Troubleshoot data communication and integration challenges, including commissioning and testing of new site integrations.
• Develop industrial operator graphics and displays for ROC operators, including recreating customer site operating displays within the ROC environment.
• Ensure graphics accurately reflect process conditions, equipment status, alarms, and critical operating information, and keep graphics current as customer systems change.
• Develop equipment-specific and site-specific visualizations and support onboarding of new generation, renewable energy, and battery storage assets into the ROC.
• Develop and maintain fleet-wide SCADA visualization standards for the EthosEnergy ROC, including reusable graphic templates, symbols, navigation frameworks, and object libraries.
• Establish standards for alarm presentation, color usage, equipment status indication, trends and historical data displays, screen layouts, navigation structures, and operator workflow consistency.
• Standardize visual representation for gas turbines, HRSGs, steam turbines, auxiliaries, renewable assets, and battery energy storage systems.
• Collaborate with ROC Operators and Controls Engineers to improve operator effectiveness and situational awareness, including governance and quality control for graphics deployments.
• Review customer control system architectures and available data sources, and participate in integration testing, commissioning, and validation.
• Align ROC displays with customer operational requirements and existing site practices, working with OT personnel and customer SMEs as needed.
• Support platform upgrades, migrations, and system enhancements, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives supporting ROC operations.

Required experience and skills

• 5+ years of experience in SCADA, HMI, DCS, or industrial automation systems.
• Experience developing industrial operator displays and SCADA graphics.
• Experience with AVEVA System Platform / Wonderware or similar industrial SCADA platforms.
• Experience with SCADA object development, template creation, and symbol libraries.
• Experience mapping and troubleshooting industrial data points and integrating data from OPC, PI System, historians, PLCs, or DCS systems.
• Experience supporting industrial facilities and industries such as power generation, utilities, manufacturing, oil & gas, or process industries.
• Experience creating standardized graphics and reusable visualization components across multiple sites or assets.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills (verbal and written).
• Detail-oriented approach to SCADA application development.
• Ability to manage multiple integration and development projects simultaneously.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related program (fields listed include “Industrial” in the source).

Location and work setup

• Houston, TX, USA (remote)
• Hybrid role with office-based development and real-time collaboration with a Houston-based 24/7 operations team.
• Direct interaction with live plant data and operational environments via cyber secure methods.
• Houston residence is preferred.
