Motion Designer, Core Vehicle Software UI

Tesla is building high-quality motion that feels native to its design language, from the vehicle user interface to the companion mobile app. This onsite Motion Designer role in Hawthorne, CA focuses on creating fluid, purposeful animations and partnering closely with core UI designers and engineers to ship production-ready motion experiences.

What you’ll work on

• Product UI motion for the vehicle and companion app
• Micro-interactions that enhance usability and feel responsive
• Design system motion to keep motion consistent across experiences
• Integration with engineering to ensure animations translate from concept to implementation

Key responsibilities

You will own motion graphics for the vehicle UI and companion mobile app, designing and implementing animations that align with product goals and Tesla’s visual approach. You will collaborate with core UI designers and engineers to deliver motion that is both purposeful and performant.

What you bring

• 3+ years of full-time motion design experience
• A strong portfolio of motion work in 2D and 3D for interactive products (UI, apps, or games preferred)
• Experience animating with code, such as Lottie, Rive, CSS/JS, and/or native animation frameworks
• Ability to translate design intent into performant, production-ready motion
• Experience with modern AI coding and animation tools is a plus

Compensation and benefits

$133,000 - $285,000 per year salary + cash and stock awards and benefits.
