Job Description
Garmin International, Inc., anchored at its U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area, seeks a full-time Motion Designer 2 to join the onsite team in Olathe, Kansas. The role centers on concepting, designing, and producing motion graphics for online, in-store, internal communications, and television broadcast, helping to illuminate Garmin’s features and technologies for diverse audiences.
Overview
This position is based at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the greater Kansas City region and focuses on crafting engaging motion graphics from concept through production. The work supports multiple channels, including digital, retail, internal communications, and broadcast, with an emphasis on visually explaining new and emerging technologies and devices.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with fellow Motion Graphic Designers to drive larger initiatives
- Partner with the Creative Team to conceive marketing assets that educate customers about Garmin features and benefits
- Storyboard, design, and produce animations that clearly explain the features and benefits of new and emerging technologies/devices
- Coordinate with Communications, Marketing, and Engineering staff to plan, manage, and complete requested projects
- Work with project managers to meet critical project deadlines
- Stay current on new motion graphics trends and traditional design disciplines
- Keep up to date with new tools and techniques related to motion graphics and video production
- Develop as a Motion Designer by leveraging the expertise of teammates, tutorials, and targeted education
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Motion Graphic Design/Animation or related degree
- Minimum of 1 year of experience or an equivalent combination of education and years of experience
- Willingness to adapt to new tasks each day
- Experience presenting concepts/projects to clients in an accessible visual format
- Proven ability to plan projects across breadth, balancing quality, deadlines, and need
- Portfolio or reel demonstrating strong understanding and use of motion, imagery, layout, color, and typography
- Experience with Adobe After Effects, Illustrator, and Photoshop
- Experience in visual effects such as motion tracking, rotoscoping, and compositing
- Proficiency with PC and Mac operating systems
- Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Team-oriented, positive, collaborative, flexible, and able to work accurately in a fast-paced environment
- Detail-oriented with the ability to work proactively and independently, strong organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
