Motion Design Lead

Nen Creative is hiring a Motion Design Lead (onsite) in San Francisco, CA to scale the motion practice with both hands-on expertise and creative leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead motion design across client launch videos, commercials, product explainers, social content, and brand campaigns
• Produce high-quality motion work from concept through final delivery across 2D, UI motion, typography, compositing, and edit-driven animation
• Define visual direction, pacing, transitions, and motion systems for projects
• Collaborate closely with producers, editors, designers, and directors to bring ideas to life
• Review and provide feedback to other motion designers to maintain a high creative standard across projects
• Guide and mentor the motion team through critiques, collaboration, and workflow support
• Build scalable templates, systems, and processes to improve consistency and efficiency
• Balance speed and quality while delivering across multiple projects and deadlines
• Refine work through strong taste and attention to detail until the output feels exceptional
• Improve the overall motion pipeline, organization, and creative process as the team scales

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in motion design, ideally across product/UI motion and brand or marketing work
• Proven ability to lead and/or mentor other motion designers
• Strong reel showing range across launch films, brand work, product motion, and social content
• Expertise in After Effects and Figma
• Fluency in at least one 3D tool: Cinema 4D, Blender, or Spline
• Real visual design fundamentals: type, layout, color, composition, timing
• Strong opinions about easing, timing, and restraint, with the ability to defend decisions
• Comfort as both IC and leader, including shipping demanding sequences and unblocking teammates within the same week
• Experience in studio, agency, or fast-moving startup environments
• Self-directed and remote-ready: run critiques on Zoom, give clear written feedback in Figma, and keep teams aligned across time zones
• Calm, organized, and dependable under pressure
