Motion Design Art Director

Bubba’s LA is seeking a Motion Design Art Director to lead end-to-end creative direction across a range of motion design and animation work. This is an onsite role in Burbank, where you will guide projects from early concept through final delivery while staying hands-on with the craft.

You will collaborate with clients and internal teams, mentor artists, and help turn ideas into polished visual concepts that meet project goals. The role blends creative leadership with practical execution across multiple pipelines and deadlines.

Role snapshot

• Location: Burbank, CA (Onsite)
• Compensation: USD 120,000 per year
• Experience: 5+ years
• Employment: Full-time, with an option for a six-month contract that may be extended
• Start date: As soon as possible (timelines for the right candidate may be accommodated)

What you’ll do

• Lead creative development from concept through execution across motion design and animation projects.
• Generate strong visual concepts independently and in partnership with the team.
• Share clear, constructive feedback with both clients and team members to keep the creative vision aligned.
• Stay hands-on with the work, stepping into project pipelines as needed.
• Inspire and mentor artists, encouraging them to push creative boundaries and elevate their output.
• Use a solutions-oriented mindset when handling feedback, keeping momentum and quality high.
• Pitch innovative, value-driven ideas to clients and collaborate to refine concepts that align with their goals and strengthen their brand.
• Manage multiple projects and deadlines with confidence and precision.

What you bring

• 5+ years of experience leading creative projects, preferably in motion design and animation.
• Expertise with Cinema 4D, Redshift, After Effects, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
• Strong communication skills, including the confidence to pitch ideas to clients and lead team discussions.
• A passion for design, typography, and storytelling.
• Proven ability to direct and manage artists across multiple projects at the same time.
• A track record of thriving in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.

• Maya, Houdini, Blender, Unreal Engine
