Lead Product Designer

Foresight Works Ltd is building how people use AI to shape and operate critical infrastructure, and this role will set the design direction from day one. As the first dedicated designer, you will help define how teams make decisions, validate proposals, and move real projects forward through a human-agent product experience.

Role focus

You will work hands-on across discovery, interaction and visual design, and rapid prototyping in code. The work includes designing the human-agent loop, establishing a design language that the company can scale, and owning key product areas end to end through production. The position is onsite in New York, NY.

What you’ll do

• Lead discovery in the field by sitting with owner executives, project controls leads, GC planners, and site teams to identify where decisions get made and translate that into clear problem framing.
• Prototype in code to learn quickly by building working prototypes using real project data with React and AI coding tools such as Cursor or Claude Code, then showing customers results in days rather than quarters.
• Design the human-agent loop by defining what an agent flags, drafts, or handles independently, when it should request a person, and how AI output should be reliable enough to support high-stakes contractor conversations.
• Design for multiple parties at once by creating experiences that give owners, GCs, trades, suppliers, and investors shared reasons to engage and keep the project moving.
• Ship end to end by owning key product areas from the first conversation through production, collaborating closely with engineers, and staying involved after launch to understand what changed.
• Build the foundation through a scalable design language, system, and principles, with a visual and interaction bar that makes complex data feel calm and clear.

What you bring

• 6+ years designing and shipping software, including complex B2B, data-heavy, or enterprise products.
• Strong discovery skills to manage messy conversations, identify the real underlying problem, and reshape product thinking based on learning.
• Comfort prototyping in code, building working products customers can test and validate without waiting on engineering, and using AI coding tools daily.
• Experience designing for AI or automation, with opinions on trust, explainability, and when software should act without human input.
• Ability to simplify complexity, turning dense, ambiguous information into interfaces people can understand in seconds.
• Experience as an early or sole designer, including comfort setting standards, making calls without a playbook, and doing the unglamorous work.
• Cross-functional influence by holding strong opinions loosely and aligning engineers, sales, and customers.
• Interest in the physical world by caring about software outcomes that show up in steel and concrete.
• Domain-fit for deep domain experts, including users such as schedulers, project controls leads, and construction executives who expect tools that respect their work.

Compensation and location

Salary: USD 170,000 - 200,000 per year.

Total compensation: $200,000 - 230,000, based on experience, level, and location.

Location: US-based required. New York preferred. Occasional travel to customer sites required.
