Junior Web Designer

TMAC Communications is seeking a junior web designer in Gaithersburg, MD to help create interactive, engaging website experiences for three economic development organizations in New York.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with clients to develop creative concepts and design directions
• Test, refine, and improve the website design based on feedback and usability considerations
• Define and document design guidelines, standards, and best practices
• Maintain website appearance by enforcing content standards
• Create website visual imagery and ensure alignment with each organization’s brand identity
• Work with WordPress content management systems and theme templates
• Communicate design approaches using user flows, process flows, site maps, and wireframes
• Design and incorporate website functionalities and features
• Develop sample pages, including color and font selections
• Prepare design plans and present the proposed website structure

Requirements

• 1 to 3 years of related experience
• Proficiency with graphic design tools, including Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator, plus other visual design software
• Front-end development proficiency using HTML and CSS, with experience in jQuery and JavaScript
• Working knowledge of WordPress, including content management systems and theme templates
• Good understanding of search engine optimization (SEO) principles
• Solid grasp of cross-browser compatibility issues
• Strong visual design skills
• Creative mindset with openness to new ideas
• Adaptable approach and willingness to learn new techniques
• Excellent communication skills
