MicroKits, a small Charlottesville based team making educational electronic kits and electronic musical instruments, invites a local designer to join on a contract basis. This onsite collaboration offers real opportunities to shape our brand, craft lesson materials, refine packaging, and enhance our online presence. The role is paid hourly, between $25 and $35, and emphasizes hands-on impact over marketing fluff. AI-generated content is not accepted for final deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Understand MicroKits brand and contribute to its development over time on a contract basis.
  • Work locally or semi-locally to enable occasional in-person collaboration, ensuring alignment with product goals.
  • Operate with Affinity and DaVinci Resolve; familiarity with the Adobe suite will help you pick up processes quickly.
  • Support a variety of small to medium tasks as needs arise, including lesson plan formatting, email design, website improvements, and packaging concepts.
  • Collaborate on new directions as the brand grows and adapts, contributing your creative perspective.
  • This is not a sales or marketing role; engage as a local designer to assist on projects as they come up.
  • Example projects include formatting and designing lesson plans for a new product, with later packaging design to follow.

Requirements

  • Local or semi-local to Charlottesville with the ability to meet in person as needed.
  • Experience with Affinity and DaVinci Resolve; familiarity with the Adobe suite is beneficial and can be picked up quickly.
  • Availability to assist with a range of tasks such as lesson plans, emails, website improvements, and packaging design.
  • Not a sales or marketing specialist; a local designer or artist available for project-based work is preferred.
  • Ability to contribute to formatting and designing lesson plans for new products, with packaging design planned for later in the year.
