Freelance Motion Designer
Job Description
Nen Creative is hiring a Freelance Motion Designer for project-based, fully remote work from Los Angeles, CA. This is a hands-on opportunity with a roster of tech clients, where you’ll help turn big ideas into polished motion across launch moments, campaigns, and fast social deliverables. Engagements are flexible, with the ability to scale hours up or down as project needs change.
What you’ll do
- Design and animate motion for launch videos, commercials, product explainers, social content, and brand campaigns
- Create motion work from concept through final delivery, spanning 2D, UI, typography, compositing, and edit-driven animation
- Translate creative direction and storyboards into motion that matches the intended tone, pacing, and feel
- Collaborate with producers, editors, designers, and directors to bring concepts to life
- Iterate quickly based on feedback from creative leads and clients, maintaining the quality of the craft
- Maintain speed and quality while supporting multiple projects and deadlines
- Elevate work beyond the expected by refining for strong taste, detail, and exceptional results
What you bring
- 3 to 5 years of experience as a motion designer, ideally from a studio, agency, or in-house creative team
- A strong reel showing range across product and UI motion, brand work, and edit-driven animation
- Expertise in After Effects, with comfort working in Figma and DaVinci Resolve
- Strong fundamentals in type, layout, color, composition, and timing
- A real point of view on motion, including easing, transitions, and restraint, plus the ability to explain your decisions
- Comfort taking feedback and iterating quickly without losing momentum
- Experience working in studio, agency, or fast-moving startup environments

In this freelance role, you may work on a polished hero sequence for a product launch or a fast-turn social cutdown, and sometimes both within the same week.
