DataAnnotation is seeking an experienced Digital Web Designer - AI Trainer to evaluate how frontier AI models perform on visual design tasks. In this contract role, you will build realistic design briefs, test them through AI design tools, and assess the results against professional quality standards.

Role Overview

You will generate design briefs based on your own professional expertise, run those briefs through frontier AI design tools, and determine how well the outputs meet a colleague-level bar. You will also compare multiple model versions using identical prompts and assets, documenting which version performs better and where each falls short.

Key Responsibilities

Create challenging, realistic design briefs grounded in your professional experience.
Submit briefs to frontier AI design tools and evaluate outputs against the standard you would apply to a fellow designer.
Compare two model versions on the same prompts and assets, selecting the better output and identifying specific shortcomings.
Review and critique model-generated interfaces, mockups, layouts, slides, infographics, illustrations, and motion.
Flag concrete failures with evidence, including alignment and spacing, content overflow and cutoff, typography, visual hierarchy, SVG and illustration quality, ignored assets, and off-brief interpretations.
Contribute across software and interactive work, office and presentation design, technical illustration, graphic design, and new media.

Requirements

Fluency in English at a native or bilingual level.
Experience in UI/UX design, web design, product design, or graphic design.
Strong understanding of visual hierarchy, layout, typography, interaction design, and user flow.
Ability to explain why a design fails, not only that it does.
Comfort working with AI design tools, or the ability to learn them quickly.
A current, in-progress, or completed Bachelor’s degree is preferred, but not required.
