Business Intelligence Developer, UI/UX

Moxie Pest Control is hiring a Business Intelligence Developer to build internal analytics tools with strong SQL performance and high-quality data visualization and UI/UX.

Responsibilities

• Write and tune SQL, including stored procedures and pre-aggregated load procedures, to meet performance targets (p95 under 1 second).
• Manage report tickets and support small data extracts.
• Build fact and dimension tables and semantic-layer calculations from both live and daily sources, then share the work with Engineering.
• Own extensions to the semantic layer and the applications built on top of it.
• Validate new reports against existing ones and document metric definitions.
• Develop and maintain internal web applications with Python/Flask backends and JavaScript plus D3 front ends.
• Review AI-assisted code for correctness, performance, and security prior to release.
• Select the right chart, layout, and interaction for each question and translate business requests into interfaces that are accurate, readable, and aligned with brand standards.
• Set visualization and UX standards for the team and coach other developers on them.
• Partner with Engineering on shared fact and dimension work while Engineering owns ingestion, pipelines, and raw tables.
• Explain metric logic and design decisions to non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• 3+ years in BI, analytics, or data development.
• Portfolio or code sample proving exceptional data visualization and UI/UX judgment in a working web interface (this is the first item reviewed).
• Strong, proven SQL including CTEs, window functions, stored procedures, and query tuning.
• Working knowledge of dimensional modeling (star schema, grain, slowly changing dimensions).
• Practical experience with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, plus Python (Flask or similar).
• Experience with Git-based workflows.
• Ability to explain metric logic and design decisions to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to Have

• D3 (or comparable charting library), Figma, and accessibility practice.
• Power BI, DAX, or semantic model experience.
• Azure SQL, Azure App Service, Key Vault, or CI/CD with GitHub Actions.
• Snowflake, dbt, or a semantic layer tool.
• Experience using AI coding tools in a reviewed, tested workflow.

Compensation & Location

• Salary: USD 70,000 - 85,000 per year
• Location: Irving, TX (fully onsite)
