Art Director Creative Services
Job Description
PUMA is seeking an Art Director for Creative Services in its Boston-area office in Somerville, MA. This onsite role leads visual storytelling across art direction, video, and digital content, supporting campaign ideation through production and post-production across multiple marketing channels.
Role Overview
The Art Director collaborates with Creative Services leadership and cross-functional partners to develop and execute creative directions for full-funnel campaigns. The position supports marketing efforts spanning PR, Social, Paid Media, Ecomm, and In-Store, while also guiding productions that require coordination with external creative partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Associate Creative Director, Planners, Content Creators, and Business Units on the conception of both high- and low-production campaigns.
- Execute creative ideas across all marketing channels, including PR, Social, Paid Media, Ecomm, and In-Store assets aligned to Creative Services full-funnel creative directions.
- Serve as a leading voice in Creative Services and cross-departmental brainstorming sessions.
- Review and align with briefs for marketing campaigns and other communications initiatives with Creative Services senior management.
- Lead creative productions by identifying, briefing, and coordinating external partners such as photographers, illustrators, animators, production companies, and independent content creators.
- Plan and execute photoshoots and other productions with Creative Services leadership and producers, including liaison responsibilities with external creative partners.
- Guide external partners in the development of creative concepts and production deliverables.
- Develop clear, in-depth creative guidelines to support regional execution of global concepts.
- Provide feedback to production designers on ecommerce designs and other final assets.
- Guide and oversee post-production asset selection and retouching processes with Creative Services leadership.
- Lead within Creative Services by supporting and developing junior members of the team.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design and/or a relevant field of study.
- 5+ years of relevant experience is required.
- Digitally focused skill set with strong proficiency in Photoshop, InDesign, Bridge, and Acrobat on Mac.
- Demonstrated ability to create proof of concepts for still photography and moving imagery, including gifs and video content.
- Top-tier design skills and working knowledge of digital design.
- Ability to see projects through all phases, including concept ideation, design development, and pre- and post-production.
- Thorough understanding of creative process, color theory and typography, as well as interactive, digital design and video storytelling.
- Exceptional presentation skills and proven ability to brainstorm, design, and strategize with senior management for marketing executions.
- Extensive experience directing and overseeing studio and location photo shoots under aggressive, time-sensitive conditions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and cooperatively in a diverse group.
- Leadership capabilities, including ability to manage, motivate, and mentor others.
- Ability to travel with the role.
Preferred / Additional Information
- Experience in the footwear, athletic and/or apparel industry is a plus.
