Job Description

The Retail Art Director role at HH Global supports a hardware and services portfolio used daily by billions and trusted by more than 6 million businesses. In this remote position based in the San Francisco Bay Area, you will lead creative direction, protect visual design integrity, and coordinate agency production across third-party (3P) retail and B2B partners for both print and digital deliverables.

You will operate as a principal creative bridge between Global Design/Brand teams and partner marketing and GTM stakeholders, with occasional onsite reviews in Mountain View, CA for Bay Area-based applicants.

Purpose of the Role

Lead creative direction, visual design integrity, and agency production for the client’s hardware and services area across 3P retail and B2B partners.
Serve as the key creative liaison between Global Design/Brand, Partner Marketing Managers, GTM leads, and external creative production agencies.
Steer creative concepting and adapt first-party global toolkits into retail-ready executions for multi-retailer launch cycles.
Enforce brand and technical quality standards while guiding agencies through fast-paced projects and tight timelines.
Work remotely; applicants must be based in the San Francisco Bay Area to attend occasional onsite reviews in Mountain View, CA.

Responsibilities

Translate Global Hardware and Retail Design toolkits into channel-specific retail marketing collateral across print, in-store fixtures, and digital surfaces, ensuring strict brand compliance (typography, photography guidelines, AI feature lockups, and legal disclaimers).
Conduct creative reviews by assessing partner-led creative assets to ensure adherence to the client’s creative brand standards.
Collaborate with Partner Marketing Operations, Product Marketing Managers (PMM), Go-To-Market (GTM) leads, and Production PgMs to manage Plan of Record (POR) changes, disclaimer updates, and quick turnarounds diplomatically and efficiently.
Build seamless creative partnerships with the client’s Global Creative team to communicate and guide execution of their vision to cross-functional partners.
Present concept decks, adaptations, and retail solutions in executive forums, clearly explaining how you bridge the gap between client requirements and partner expectations.
Act as primary creative lead for the client and agency partners, managing daily creative briefing, critique, unblocking, and art direction.
Review and approve mechanical builds, multi-asset digital banner suites, animated retail screens, and video end cards, ensuring launch deadlines are met without sacrificing aesthetic quality.
Co-host structured briefing and creative review office hours with client agency teams to resolve scope ambiguities, streamline revisions, and maintain project velocity.
Champion studio SOPs by following structured delivery protocols and established ways of working, including centralized repository tracking and formal asset handoffs with verified drive links, while eliminating fragmented chat requests (and remaining open to adapt).
Oversee asset transitions across Figma and Adobe Creative Suite tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects) so production vendors receive native, uncompromised layered mechanicals.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Fine Arts, Art Direction, or equivalent practical experience.
6+ years of art direction, visual design, or creative production experience in a design studio, creative agency, or corporate brand marketing team.
Demonstrated experience designing for major consumer electronics and tech retail channels, including Best Buy, Target, Walmart, Amazon, Home Depot, and Lowes.
Expert proficiency in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects), and Google Workspace.
Deep understanding of pre-press print production, mechanical file preparation, color proofing, large-format in-store signage, and structural retail fixtures.
Proven experience serving as creative lead or creative point of contact directing external creative and production agency partners.
Ability to stay poised, constructive, and solutions-oriented when creative work is challenged by cross-functional stakeholders or shifting commercial requirements.
Prior experience supporting consumer electronics, hardware ecosystems (smartphones, smart home, wearables), or high-profile tech brands (e.g., Google, Apple, or similar).
Proven success navigating fluctuating launch timelines, late-breaking copy and legal revisions, and multi-stakeholder approval matrices.
Track record managing multiple projects in parallel while balancing high-level guidance with meticulous detail (including disclaimer superscripts).
Highly motivated, organized problem-solver with rigorous attention to detail.
A team player focused on client satisfaction; strong efficiency mindset with the ability to deliver high-quality work in a technical environment with uncertain circumstances.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Self-motivated, flexible individual with strong communication and leadership skills; able to provide a portfolio of work.
