Job Description
The Steel Network is hiring a WordPress Web Designer & UX Specialist to help design, develop, maintain, and optimize WordPress websites and landing pages across multiple brands. Based in Durham, NC and working onsite, you will partner with marketing and content teams to keep digital experiences modern, effective, and aligned with brand standards.
This role combines website design and UX with practical WordPress execution, including performance, SEO, and ongoing campaign support. You will also help coordinate improvements across several active projects while supporting the team with hands-on troubleshooting and updates.
What you’ll do
- Design and develop WordPress websites and landing pages
- Manage website updates, including plugins, themes, and content
- Build conversion-focused landing pages and campaign assets
- Handle routine website maintenance, troubleshooting, content updates, and bug fixes
- Coordinate website improvements and user experience enhancements
- Implement SEO best practices and optimize site performance
- Support integrations with forms, CRM systems, and analytics tools
- Collaborate with designers, writers, content creators, videographers, and marketing leadership
- Support basic writing needs when required
- Manage multiple website projects across several brands
What you bring
- 3+ years of WordPress experience
- Experience with Divi Builder is required
- Working knowledge of HTML and CSS
- WooCommerce experience is preferred
- Strong understanding of website design and user experience
- Familiarity with SEO best practices
- Ability to organize and manage multiple projects
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Basic graphic design skills using Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or Figma

Role boundary
- Creating 3D models or graphics is not a primary responsibility of this role
Education & experience
- An Associate’s degree in computer science or a related field is required
- Three to five years of WordPress design and development experience required
- Portfolio of WordPress websites required
- Experience with Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and CRM integrations is preferred
- Experience supporting multiple brands or websites is a plus
Schedule and location
- Full-time role, Monday-Friday
- In office in Durham, North Carolina
- Minimal to no travel required
- Some after-hours communication may be required
