Web Designer III
Job Description
The University of Florida seeks a Web Designer III in Gainesville, FL to create visual concepts and working prototypes for full websites, applications, and website components, with a focus on maximizing user experience. This role supports front-end development aligned with UF Health web standards and helps strengthen the organization’s online presence.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop visual concepts and working prototypes for full websites, applications, and individual website components, evaluating the best fit for users with an emphasis on user experience.
- Support design group efforts to improve the organization’s online appeal and enhance user experience.
- Create and program front-end web solutions according to UF Health web standards.
- Implement sites in a production environment.
- Participate in the full front-end life cycle, including coding, testing, quality assurance, implementation/deployment, and subsequent testing and deployment.
- Translate users’ requirements and business needs into technical, functional, and visual design specifications.
- Research web design developments to identify new technologies that improve site usability and productivity for developing and maintaining websites.
- Regularly review high-quality websites from other organizations and critically evaluate UF Health standards against them.
- Regularly review websites of UF Health peers and competitors, critically evaluating UF Health standards against them.
- Maintain current knowledge of web-based technologies.
- Review key site usage metrics and produce meaningful reports that address business problems or opportunities.
- Assist in analyzing existing processes and procedures to support future configurations that improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Work closely with customer support staff to review customer requests, debug issues, and provide solutions related to website design.
- Perform other duties as required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization with five years of appropriate experience; or an associate’s degree with seven years of appropriate experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Six years of experience developing and successfully launching websites, web user interfaces, front-end web application interfaces, and conceptual designs.
- Experience with CSS, JS, PHP, WordPress, and Craft CMS.
