Job Description

HII Mission Technologies is seeking a UI/UX Designer to support the USPS Office of Inspector General (OIG), helping shape modern, intuitive experiences for web tools. This hybrid position includes 1 day per week onsite in Arlington, VA, with the role focused on designing interfaces that improve clarity and usability.

What you’ll do

  • Design intuitive interfaces and user flows for OIG web applications.
  • Create wireframes, mockups, and UI specifications to support clear, modern designs.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and technical teams to understand needs and gather feedback.
  • Translate complex requirements into simple, effective visual workflows.
  • Modernize site graphics and interaction elements while following U.S. design standards.
  • Improve navigation paths and overall usability with minimal custom coding.
  • Participate in testing to ensure designs function as intended.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s in a related field, or 0 years with a Master’s in a related field, or a High School Diploma or equivalent plus 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Conceptual understanding of User Interface Design and the design process.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (or other designer tools).
  • Intermediate level of HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap.
  • Basic JavaScript skills.
  • Understanding of Less and Sass.
  • Understanding of responsive design and touch interface interaction techniques, aligned with recent design standards and trends.
  • Understanding of web and mobile limitations, with approaches to work within those boundaries.
  • A solid portfolio showing user-centered design solutions across multiple interfaces and screen sizes.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Preferred experience
