UI/UX Designer
Job Description
What Everforth ECS offers: An onsite UI/UX Designer role in Arlington, VA, focused on supporting the USPS Office of Inspector General External Services Directorate. You will shape the UI architecture, interfaces, and interaction flows for web and on-device software, producing process flows, wireframes, and visual design mockups. The position carries a salary of $100,000 to $120,000 per year with benefits provided by Everforth ECS. A minimum of five years of relevant experience is expected.
Responsibilities
- Contribute as a designer in the USPS OIG External Services Directorate, accountable for user experience and interface design
- Rapidly produce process flows, wireframes, and visual design mockups to clearly conceptualize and communicate interaction behaviors
- Develop and maintain detailed user-interface specifications
- Collaborate with stakeholders to evaluate needs, goals, mission, values, and overall site objectives
- Solicit and incorporate feedback from CIGIE, USPS OIG, IG Community subject matter experts throughout the engagement
- Apply United States design standards to the greatest extent possible
- Limit custom coding to promote efficient knowledge-transfer and cost-effective in-house maintenance
- During development, present multiple design concepts for feedback from CIGIE, USPS OIG, IG Community POCs when significant decisions arise
- Create user-centered designs for software projects by incorporating customer feedback
- Design the UI architecture, interface, and interaction flow of new web and on-device software applications
- Create and evaluate interaction models, user task flows, screen designs, and UI details that promote ease of use and optimize the user experience
- Translate complex requirements into well-structured visuals and workflows
- Participate in testing to validate own work and colleagues' functionality
- Modernize and improve existing graphics, fonts, and other design elements to achieve a contemporary website look
Requirements
- Minimum five years of experience as a user experience designer, interaction designer, information architect, or similar role
- Strong conceptual understanding of User Interface Design and the design process
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent designer tools
- Intermediate HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap skills
- Basic JavaScript knowledge
- Understanding of Less and Sass
- Knowledge of responsive design and touch interface techniques aligned with current standards and trends
- Awareness of web and mobile limitations with ideas to extend capabilities; a solid portfolio demonstrating user-centered solutions across multiple interfaces and screen sizes
- Ability to collaborate with developers, project managers, and cross-functional teams to deliver designs that meet user goals
- Experience creating UI specs and wireframes; comfortable moving quickly from idea to execution and offering options to stakeholders
- Experience proposing and delivering new interactive graphics based on existing data to improve accessibility and interactivity
- Ability to improve user paths so destinations are reachable with a minimal number of clicks
