Sr Specialist, Visual Design & Production
Job Description
Charles Schwab is hiring a Senior Specialist to support marketing and communications through production design, PDF creation, and print-ready file preparation. This onsite role in Austin, TX focuses on accurate layout and copy updates, accessibility compliance, and reliable handoff to print and template-based tools.
Role Focus
The Senior Specialist, Visual Design & Production builds and updates production files derived from art direction, prepares digital and interactive deliverables, and ensures brand standards and production specifications are met. The position also supports prepress workflows, including preflight review and proofing for final output.
Responsibilities
- Build production files from new art direction files while collaborating to preserve the integrity of the original design.
- Update production files for existing pieces and create production files from existing assets or templates.
- Build and hand off files that will be programmed into various template-based tools.
- Produce digital, fillable, and interactive PDFs.
- Ensure all files meet accessibility requirements.
- Make accurate copy and layout edits during reviews while meeting deadlines.
- Check files for completeness and adherence to Schwab Brand standards and production specifications.
- Partner with the print production manager to ensure accurately built files are provided to the print vendor.
- Preflight approved files for final handoff to print production.
- Review soft and hard proofs as requested.
- Perform image adjustments such as changing resolution, resizing, cropping, and retouching as needed.
- Communicate proactively with the project team to clarify requirements and prevent issues that may affect timing or final deliverables.
- Request needed information and arrive at kickoffs and meetings prepared.
- Produce logo files for Schwab Alliance/Advisor statements, Fixed Income reports, and Schwab Retirement Plan Services statements.
- Assist with organizing, monitoring, archiving, and maintaining files on the server.
- Maintain knowledge of C2 and studio team systems and processes and recommend improvements as needed.
- Assist in creating or maintaining team process documentation.
- Learn about Schwab’s products, services, audiences, and resources.
- Keep skills and technical knowledge current and share project and technical knowledge with the studio design team.
Required Qualifications
- Expert-level mastery of Adobe InDesign.
- Basic to intermediate-level mastery of Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.
- Basic to intermediate-level mastery of Adobe Acrobat and creating interactive and fillable PDFs.
- Basic understanding of accessibility standards in digital and print.
- Experience working within strict brand guidelines, including current Schwab working experience.
- Strong print prepress knowledge.
- Additional consideration for experience in the print industry.
- Basic knowledge of HTML tags is helpful.

Location and Schedule
- Austin, TX (onsite).
- USD 35 - 45 per hour.
