Job Description

Precision is hiring a Senior Video Designer for a primarily hands-on editing and post-production role in New York, NY (hybrid). You’ll get to shape edits through sound, pacing, and rhythm, collaborate with creative leads across disciplines, and help junior editors grow through clear direction and feedback.

You’ll work on a range of video projects, taking concepts and scripts from early assembly through final delivery. Precision’s projects often sit at the intersection of technology, people, government, law, and politics, so your editorial choices will play an active role in how the message lands.

What you’ll do

  • Own edits from initial assembly to final delivery, handling multiple projects with a high degree of independence.
  • Bring established concepts and scripts to life through editing, sound, and motion.
  • Shape footage, performances, music, sound, and pacing into edits that communicate clearly and hold attention.
  • Apply strong design judgment to on-screen typography, titles, graphics, and subtle animation.
  • Partner with creative directors, producers, copywriters, and designers to develop and refine work.
  • Share cuts internally, explain creative decisions, and respond thoughtfully to feedback.
  • Adapt edits for different channels, lengths, and formats while preserving the original idea’s strength.
  • Maintain organized projects and oversee finishing details, technical quality, and delivery requirements.
  • Delegate appropriate assignments to junior editors, review their work, and provide specific feedback that improves both the piece and their skills.
  • Manage competing deadlines and flag production needs or obstacles early.

What you bring

  • 6+ years of relevant video editing and post-production experience.
  • A portfolio showing range, storytelling instincts, and strong pacing, sound, music, and imagery.
  • Ability to make an established concept work visually, sonically, and rhythmically.
  • Strong technical editing skills; Adobe Premiere Pro and the Adobe video workflow are strongly preferred.
  • Capability to create well-crafted motion typography and subtle animation; advanced character animation or illustration is not a core requirement.
  • Judgment to work independently and openness to collaborative iteration.
  • Experience guiding other editors through clear direction, useful feedback, and review.
  • Curiosity about complex subjects and sensitivity to how editing choices shape a message.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and ability to deliver across multiple projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred, ideally in a creative field, but not required.

Compensation & benefits

  • Annual salary range: $105,000 to $134,999
  • Annual bonus opportunity
  • Flexible hybrid remote/in-office plan (office required 50% of working days each month)
  • Retirement plan with automatic 3% safe-harbor contribution
  • Healthcare coverage (medical, dental, and vision) with 90% of costs covered by Precision
  • Paid time off: vacation, sick leave, and floating holidays
  • Paid parental leave
  • Professional development stipend
  • Base annual salary is one component of Precision’s total compensation approach

How to apply

  • Submit an application online via Precision’s careers page and include your resume.
  • Include a reel or portfolio of completed edits with a brief explanation of your contribution to each piece.
