Job Description

Humana is hiring a Senior User Interface Design Engineer to create intuitive, high-trust digital experiences for both clinical tools and care-facing platforms. This role leads end-to-end UI design across assigned product verticals, with an emphasis on accessibility, plain-language clarity, and reducing cognitive load for care teams.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end UI design for assigned product verticals, covering discovery through pixel-perfect delivery, including workflow design, information architecture, and interface design for data-dense, human-in-the-loop clinical workflows.
  • Support and contribute to design systems, reusable patterns, and scalable design standards.
  • Share design recommendations and underlying rationale with stakeholders, incorporate feedback, and build alignment across teams.
  • Produce interactive, high-fidelity prototypes to model complex interactions and validate user flows.
  • Contribute to how AI-assisted tools are integrated into the design process as internal tooling access expands.
  • Plan and run qualitative user research, usability testing, and feedback sessions with users and stakeholders to validate decisions and iterate quickly.
  • Champion WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility and plain-language design so interfaces remain inclusive across different levels of digital and health literacy.
  • Apply a healthcare and compliance lens with sensitivity to privacy, patient trust, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on product design experience (UI/UX) delivering digital products, web applications, or complex enterprise platforms from concept through launch, supported by a strong portfolio featuring complex interfaces with clear visual hierarchy and clean execution for data-dense applications.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Expert-level Figma skills including auto-layout, tokens, component variables, and interactive prototyping.
  • Ability to combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution, bringing an informed perspective while working within established design system and standards.
  • Proven capability to manage competing priorities, operate effectively with ambiguous requirements, and maintain high design quality in a fast-paced, iterative environment.
  • Strong communication skills to explain design decisions, present to cross-functional stakeholders, and directly discuss technical constraints and tradeoffs with engineers.
  • Documented success using design to improve business and customer outcomes, such as patient satisfaction, engagement, retention, or operational efficiency.
  • AI fluency: understanding how AI-driven in-product features behave (including latency handling, confidence scoring, and human-in-the-loop workflows) and genuine interest in AI-assisted design tools.

Technologies

  • Figma
  • WCAG 2.1 AA

Benefits

  • Medical, dental and vision benefits
  • 401(k) retirement savings plan
  • Time off (including paid time off, company and personal holidays, paid parental and caregiver leave)
  • Short-term and long-term disability
  • Life insurance
  • Many other opportunities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing within clinical, healthcare, or health-tech environments, or in other regulated/high-stakes domains.
  • Experience designing interfaces for complex data pipelines, dynamic real-time data, or decision-support tools.

Location, Schedule, and Pay

  • Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL (onsite)
  • Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40
  • Pay Range: USD 97,900 - 133,500 per year
