Job Description
Google's Senior Motion Designer role invites an experienced designer to shape how motion communicates Google's product ideas. Based in San Francisco and onsite, this position centers on building a cohesive motion language for the company's AI era experiences and collaborating across design, product, and engineering to deliver animated product interactions that feel natural and informative.

Compensation
USD 112,000 - 230,000 per year
Responsibilities
- Conceptualize early motion ideas and produce high fidelity mockups, boldly exploring new directions for Google's AI inspired design language.
- Collaborate with designers, product managers, and engineers to evolve bold ideas; respond to feedback quickly and precisely, using strong cross functional teamwork to refine motion concepts and specs in real time while keeping the overall objective cohesive.
- Draft detailed documentation and implementation guidance so developers can accurately translate motion designs into code.
- Provide the necessary context for unique animations to ensure expressive concepts are technically viable and seamlessly integrated.
- Translate complex ideas into tangible visuals that test user interface conventions amid ambiguity.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least six years of experience in product design or UX.
- Experience related to physics, motion design patterns, and visual design elements.
- Include a portfolio or accessible links to your work with your application.
- Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Eight years of experience in product design or UX.
- Experience using animation tools such as After Effects or equivalents, with knowledge of basic animation principles.
- Experience using motion to reduce perceived latency.
- Ability to fuse creativity and code to deliver interactions, using motion to tell a narrative and understanding the future of interactive motion.
- Ability to apply AI workflows to scale creative output from storyboard concepts to advanced motion flows.
