Print & Graphic Design Associate

The UPS Store #7813 is seeking a Print & Graphic Design Associate to support in-store print production, graphic design, and day-to-day customer and retail operations in Newark, NJ.

Role Overview

This is a part-time, onsite position that blends design and file preparation with printing and finishing. You will work with customers to understand project needs, prepare print-ready files using industry tools, and help ensure orders are completed accurately and on time.

Responsibilities

• Create professional designs for business cards, brochures, flyers, signs, banners, and other printed materials.
• Meet with customers to understand requirements and recommend suitable design and printing solutions.
• Use Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, to develop and edit design files.
• Review and prepare customer files for printing, ensuring proper formatting, sizing, resolution, and overall quality.
• Operate printing and finishing equipment to produce accurate, high-quality materials.
• Monitor print jobs for accuracy, consistency, and timely completion.
• Communicate with customers about project specifications, pricing, turnaround times, and final product expectations.
• Welcome customers warmly and explain available products and services with recommended solutions that fit customer needs.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and professional store environment.
• Monitor inventory, restock supplies, and communicate replenishment needs to management.
• Support additional store operations and customer requests as needed.
• Collaborate with team members to manage customer volume and meet service expectations.
• Handle customer information and documents responsibly and maintain confidentiality.
• Follow established procedures for cash handling, shipping, printing, equipment use, and store security.
• Resolve routine customer concerns professionally and escalate issues when appropriate.
• Demonstrate reliability, initiative, flexibility, and accountability in completing assigned work.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Eligible to work in the United States.
• At least one year of graphic design experience.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable learning new software, equipment, and store procedures.
• Customer-first mindset with ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to engage customers, ask questions, understand needs, and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
• Ability to work a flexible part-time schedule, including evenings and weekends.
• Store hours: Monday–Friday: 8:30 AM–7:30 PM, Saturday: 9:00 AM–6:00 PM, Sunday: 10:00 AM–5:30 PM.
• Ability to lift and move packages and other items weighing 50+ lbs.
• Ability to safely climb step stools and ladders.
• Ability to stand and walk throughout the shift.

Preferred

• 2–3 years of graphic design experience.
• Experience with print production, file preparation, and printing equipment.
• Previous retail, customer service, or shipping experience.
• Current New Jersey Notary Public commission.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Notary Requirement

Applicants who are not currently commissioned as a New Jersey Notary Public must obtain their notary commission within two (2) weeks of hire, if required for the position.

Pay

$18.00 - $20.00 per hour (compensation based on qualifications and experience).
