Job Description

Foothill-De Anza Community College District invites applications for a part-time instructor role teaching graphic design and interactive design. A pool of qualified applicants will be established and applications accepted on an ongoing basis.

Responsibilities

  • Perform the standard duties of part-time faculty, including instructional, counseling, or librarian responsibilities as assigned; evaluate and assess student work; and submit grades in a timely manner.
  • Participate in the assessment of personal performance, including administrative and student evaluations.
  • Engage in campus and staff development activities and contribute to the broader College or District community.
  • Receive additional pay opportunities for office hours, extra assignments, and professional development events where applicable.
  • Teach graphic design and interactive design courses.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff, including socio-economic, ethnic, religious, cultural diversity, disability, and sexual orientation.
  • Any degree and professional experience directly related to the teaching assignment.
  • A. Associate’s degree and six years of professional experience; B. Bachelor’s degree and two years of professional experience.

Selection Procedure

Applications will be screened by appropriate department representatives on an as-needed basis. Qualified applicants who best meet the needs of the division will be contacted for an interview.

Working Conditions

  • Environment: Indoor, office environment.
  • Physical Abilities: Hearing and speaking to exchange information.
  • Vision sufficient to read various materials.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to perform the tasks required of the position.
  • Regularly stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Bending at waist, kneeling, or crouching.
  • Reaching overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally.
  • Lifting and carrying objects up to 20 lbs.

Note on Transcripts

Official transcripts verifying qualifications will be REQUIRED prior to an offer of employment. Applicants with international transcripts must obtain evaluations from an independent educational-equivalency evaluation company and provide an English translation if necessary. These services are at the applicant’s expense. Both Foothill De Anza CCD employees and external candidates must submit transcripts.
