Job Description

The Ohio Technology Consortium (OH-TECH), part of The Ohio State University, is hiring a Graphic Design Student Assistant to support its communications team. In this hybrid role based in Columbus, you will help develop and refine promotional and digital materials, contribute imagery, and assist with special requests as they come up.

Work will be centered around design production for campus and consortium needs, from print pieces to web-ready artwork. You will also support ongoing updates to employee and event materials, including systems like signage and wayfinding.

Responsibilities

  • Create and edit promotional materials such as fliers, brochures, and postcards (25%)
  • Develop digital artwork for use on social media and the web (20%)
  • Support creation of employee materials including business cards and office signs (20%)
  • Produce event materials such as programs, name badges, and signage (10%)
  • Take photos for use on social media, the web, and marketing materials (10%)
  • Assist with special projects as needed (10%)
  • Create wayfinding materials (5%)

Requirements

  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated proficiency with type
  • Willingness to learn and grow in your craft

Education / Experience Desired

  • Completion of a typography course and knowledge of print production processes
  • Interest in photography/videography/After Effects is a plus
  • A visual communications student is preferred

Work Schedule and Details

  • Work schedule: Flexible during business hours 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday
  • Position type: Temporary (Fixed Term)
  • Hours per week: 10–20 (more possible during breaks)
  • Onsite/remote arrangement: Onsite at West Campus 1224 Kinnear Road for the first 3 months, then some remote work may be available after 3 months
  • Location: Kinnear Rd, 1224 (0374)
  • Scheduled hours: 20
  • Shift: First Shift

Compensation

USD 14–14 per hour.
