Graphic Design Adjunct

This part-time adjunct position at Tidewater Community College is based onsite in Norfolk, VA. The role delivers Graphic Design instruction in classroom settings, via Zoom, or online formats, and maintains regular office hours with timely feedback to students to support learning outcomes.

Compensation

Salary: USD 793 - 1,375 per month

Responsibilities

• Teach courses aligned with the adjunct's specific training and demonstrated competence.
• Plan, organize, deliver instruction, and provide feedback to students in classroom, Zoom, or online environments for learners from diverse academic backgrounds.
• Engage students outside of class through office hours and offer thorough, timely feedback on mastery of course and program learning outcomes.
• Create a learning environment that supports students' acquisition of knowledge and skills in the graphic design discipline or program.
• Align course activities with student learning outcomes; utilize active learning strategies and appropriate technology and materials; provide prompt, meaningful feedback and communicate with students in a timely and respectful manner.
• Deliver instruction in support of stated learning outcomes; adhere to college policies for student surveys of instruction; conduct meaningful assessments, including at least one assessment within the first 15 percent of the course; analyze prior evaluations and implement appropriate action plans as needed.
• Work may occur during the day, evening, and/or weekend as determined by the assigned course(s).
• Maintain at least one office hour per week for each course assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design or related field, or an Associate Degree in Graphic Design or related field with demonstrated teaching competency.
• Two years of related occupational experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively in an electronic format.
