Founding Product Designer / Healthcare / NYC

This healthcare technology startup is modernizing international medical travel, and you will be the first product design hire. As a founding Product Designer in New York, NY (onsite), you will own the end-to-end product design function and shape how the platform feels and works from day one. This role combines product leadership, hands-on design, and close collaboration with founders and engineering to turn complex real-world workflows into clear, user-friendly experiences.

What you’ll do

• Lead end-to-end design across the platform and customer experience.
• Design intuitive workflows that help patients navigate complex international healthcare journeys.
• Build the company’s first formal design system and maintain it across all digital touchpoints.
• Partner directly with founders and engineers to define product priorities and feature roadmaps.
• Translate complex medical, logistical, and operational processes into simple experiences.
• Create wireframes, prototypes, high-fidelity designs, and production-ready assets.
• Run user research and usability testing to understand customer needs, concerns, and behaviors.
• Iterate quickly based on customer feedback and product insights.
• Help establish design best practices, processes, and culture as the organization grows.
• Contribute to the long-term product vision and overall brand identity.

What you bring

• 3-8 years of product design experience with a strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional visual design and product thinking.
• Experience at early-stage startups, ideally as a founding, first, or early design hire.
• Strong end-to-end product design experience across user research, UX, interaction design, and visual design.
• Expertise designing intuitive experiences for complex workflows and multi-step journeys.
• Advanced proficiency with Figma and modern prototyping tools.
• Experience building and maintaining scalable design systems.
• Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and product development processes.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous startup environment.
