Job Description

PTC Therapeutics, Inc. is seeking a Director, Graphic Design to lead digital-first creative and enterprise visual communications that support brand modernization in a highly regulated environment. This hybrid role in Warren, NJ helps evolve and operationalize PTC’s corporate visual identity system, partnering across teams to deliver compliant, consistent, high-impact work across social, web, video, and executive communications.

What you’ll do

  • Evolve and operationalize the corporate visual identity system, including look and feel, typography, color, and imagery and illustration, translating it into practical guidance for internal and external partners.
  • Build and maintain modular, scalable toolkits such as templates, design components, digital guidelines, and accessibility guidance to improve efficiency while protecting brand consistency.
  • Set quality standards and establish review processes for corporate-facing creative across digital, social, web, video, events, and internal communications.
  • Advance the digital ecosystem by making social and web cohesive and driving innovation.
  • Lead social-first creative strategy across channels (organic and paid), ensuring content is audience-informed, on-brand, and optimized for how platforms work.
  • Design and/or art-direct social content spanning evergreen, daily brand storytelling, and major moments or campaigns, balancing concept and strong execution.
  • Partner with department leads on content planning, creative briefs, testing and learning, and performance-informed optimization.
  • Guide creative direction for short-form video, motion graphics, and animated explainers while maintaining alignment with the corporate identity.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to deliver polished assets efficiently, including storyboards, creative direction, and review cycles.
  • Elevate enterprise presentations through information design, narrative structure, and on-brand visuals.
  • Define and enforce presentation standards and templates, coaching internal stakeholders on visual communication.
  • Coach and educate departments, employees, external vendors, and agencies on PTC’s corporate brand and how to work with it.
  • Serve as a creative liaison to Product Marketing to align corporate brand expression with brand and product campaign needs.
  • Ensure consistency across regions and markets while enabling smart localization, building frameworks that support “aligned, not identical” execution.
  • Act as a strategic partner on unmet-need and disease awareness initiatives, helping teams translate strategy into cohesive cross-channel creative.
  • Proactively identify overlap, duplication, and brand risks, recommending consolidation and governance where needed.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Communication, Patient Advocacy, Medical/Legal/Regulatory (MLR), Digital, and Commercial teams to deliver compliant and effective creative.
  • Manage external agencies and freelancers as needed, including briefing, creative direction, reviews, timelines, and budget awareness.
  • Build streamlined creative workflows such as brief intake, prioritization, review routing, versioning, and asset libraries to increase throughput and clarity.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant regulatory requirements and applicable company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in design, Visual Communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant design experience within biotech/pharma, including social and digital design in a regulated or complex environment.
  • Proficiency with modern design tools including Adobe CC (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, After Effects), Canva, Figma, and Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
  • Strong judgment in regulated communications, comfort influencing without authority, and ability to translate business goals into strategic, execution-ready design solutions.
  • Proven ability to lead brand systems and apply them consistently across digital, social, video, and presentations.
  • Comfort partnering with cross-functional stakeholders and translating strategy into creative output.
  • Working knowledge of regulated review environments and stakeholder management, including MLR processes.
  • Strong interest in turning complex concepts into impactful visuals.
  • Strong digital design skills (typography, layout, art direction, and accessibility-minded design) paired with the ability to guide concept development and creative quality.
  • Attention to detail and a desire to continuously improve quality.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while managing multiple tasks through completion.
  • Ability to create, produce, edit, and annotate design projects and multimedia files according to specifications.
  • Capability to receive feedback and apply it toward continuous improvements in quality, innovation, and service excellence.
  • Ability to take initiative, understand tasks quickly, and work with minimal supervision.
  • Comfort working with demanding stakeholders under stressful conditions while maintaining a positive presence in meetings and work sessions.

  • Travel: 10-20% (domestic and/or international)

Compensation and benefits

  • Expected base salary range: $198,000 - $232,000 per year
  • The base salary offered will depend on assessment of candidate education level, background, and experience relative to the position requirements, as well as internal equity review.
