Job Description

The role of Data Visualization/Web Designer at SAIC is based onsite in Springfield, Virginia, and centers on leading data visualization and graphic design initiatives, mentoring teammates, and engaging with stakeholders to deliver clear, compelling visuals. The position requires a seasoned professional with a TS/SCI clearance and polygraph, reflecting the sensitive nature of the work.

Role Summary

Senior level involvement in steering data visualization and graphic design projects, with responsibility for mentorship, stakeholder coordination, and delivering high quality visual solutions. The role includes leading creative direction, collaborating with clients and senior leadership, and maintaining strong on site engagement in Springfield, VA.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the creative strategy for graphic design and data visualization efforts, ensuring alignment with agency branding and messaging.
  • Develop and present innovative concepts to clients and senior leadership for review and approval.
  • Transform complex datasets from diverse sources into sophisticated, intuitive visuals such as interactive dashboards, maps, charts, and infographics.
  • Design, produce, and refine web and print content, including marketing collateral, reports, presentations, and website graphics.
  • Oversee the agency's websites with a focus on SharePoint platforms to ensure consistent performance and branding.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients and executive stakeholders, facilitating clear communication and expectations.
  • Lead project scoping sessions, supply expert technical and editorial guidance, and ensure final products meet high quality standards.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior designers to support professional growth and team capability.
  • Foster a collaborative environment and share expertise to elevate the team's overall creative output.
  • Independently manage multiple complex projects in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Prioritize tasks effectively to deliver high quality work on schedule.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Design or a related field such as Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Communication Design, Software Development, Illustration, or similar.
  • At least 10 years of professional experience in graphic design, data visualization, and multimedia development, with a proven record of leading successful projects. If a degree is not held, 15+ years of experience is required.
  • Core skills include exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal abilities; strong analytical and problem solving capabilities; ability to work independently and within a team; meticulous attention to detail; robust project and time management.
  • Technical proficiency expected in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere), with advanced skills in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel). Demonstrated experience with web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and extensive use of content management systems, particularly SharePoint.
