Job Description

Lead motion-led marketing creative for Apple TV by setting strategic direction, prototyping new motion concepts, and building scalable motion systems across the ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Define a strategic point of view for motion design rooted in creative strategy, audience insights, design principles, and the unique character of each story.
  • Drive concept development and prototyping of motion identities, campaign ideas, and visual systems from early exploration through final production.
  • Create original motion concepts and proofs of concept using animation, typography, editorial, compositing, visual effects, and filmed material.
  • Spot opportunities where motion shapes the idea (not just execution) and contribute to briefs, planning, roadmaps, prioritization, and resourcing discussions.
  • Develop scalable motion behaviors and foundational systems that maintain continuity across Apple TV while enabling distinct expression for individual titles, sports properties, and campaigns.
  • Provide creative direction and actionable feedback across motion deliverables, including brand identities, title treatments, campaign films, social content, digital experiences, out-of-home, events, retail, presentations, and prototypes.
  • Partner with strategy, design, writing, AV, social, publicity, media, partnerships, and production to guide connected work from ideation to delivery.
  • Art direct internal designers, motion artists, editors, digital artists, production teams, external creators, and specialized partners to ensure creative intent and craft quality.
  • Present work clearly and confidently, linking motion decisions to the idea, audience, strategic goals, brand fidelity, and project requirements.
  • Prepare concepts for senior leadership review, synthesize feedback, and guide teams toward focused, compelling solutions.
  • Explore emerging tools, techniques, and forms of expression by building prototypes before a campaign brief or production need makes the opportunity obvious.
  • Help grow the motion design practice through workflows, production infrastructure, creative partnerships, talent development, and internal team growth.
  • Mentor designers and collaborators, contribute to studio-wide initiatives, and champion motion design as a distinct discipline across the organization.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in motion design, animation, brand design, entertainment marketing, media creation, or a related creative discipline.
  • Portfolio showcasing daring, exceptionally crafted work with original motion concepts across 2D and 3D, including motion graphics, typography, editorial, compositing, and visual communication.
  • Experience leading creative development of brand identities and global campaigns from concept and prototyping through production and final delivery.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Media Encoder.
  • Advanced proficiency in Cinema 4D and Redshift, including camera work, lighting, materials, texturing, and rendering.
  • Proven ability to prototype original ideas hands-on while also setting creative direction and guiding multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong foundation in design and animation principles, including motion theory, timing, typography, composition, and storytelling.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex creative ideas clearly and persuasively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience establishing or advancing a motion design practice within a large, multidisciplinary creative organization or agency.
  • Deep understanding of brand systems and translating them into scalable motion behaviors across complex, multi-channel campaigns.
  • Creative leadership across production and post-production, including animation, editorial, compositing, visual effects, sound, and live-action workflows.
  • Familiarity with Maya, Houdini, Nuke, Resolve, or similar advanced production tools, and understanding design-to-CG/VFX translation.
  • Experience collaborating with artists, filmmakers, studios, creators, and cultural partners.
  • Fluency across media and social platforms, including cultural passion points, audience behavior, and emerging storytelling forms.
  • Curiosity about emerging technologies in the creative process, including real-time, spatial, generative, and interactive design.
  • High taste level, strong conceptual and editorial instincts, and extraordinary attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor creative talent, navigate ambiguity, and thrive in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.

Pay & Benefits

  • Base pay range: $177,000 - $266,000 per year.
