Audio Visual Design Engineer
Job Description
CTI is hiring an Audio Visual Design Engineer in Nashville, TN to translate client concepts into commercial AV system designs that are clear, build-ready, and aligned with real-world constraints. This onsite role supports projects from early concept through execution, partnering closely with Sales, PMs, BIM/CAD, and field teams to keep designs coordinated and installable.
What you’ll do
- Design complete commercial AV systems for environments such as conference rooms, boardrooms, training spaces, and enterprise collaboration setups.
- Create AV deliverables including signal flow diagrams, system drawings, and related documentation using Visio and/or CAD.
- Review project scope, proposals, and kickoff information, then ask the right questions to clarify technical requirements and assumptions.
- Select AV equipment and define system architecture that matches CTI standards, practical installation constraints, and project budgets.
- Coordinate with cross-functional partners including Sales, Project Managers, BIM/CAD teams, architects and consultants, IT, and electrical stakeholders to keep plans buildable.
- Provide technical direction and quality assurance on drawings so the field can rely on what is documented.
- Support execution by answering field and programming questions, handling procurement clarifications or substitutions, and updating designs due to site conditions or product availability.
What you bring
- 3+ years designing commercial AV systems (not entry-level), with strong signal flow skills.
- Solid experience producing AV documentation and drawings, including signal flow, system drawings, and Visio/CAD.
- Ability to select equipment and develop solutions that are practical, buildable, and aligned to standards and budget.
- Communication skills that make coordination across teams easier, including translating technical details for different stakeholders.
- A collaborative, supportive work style, with the ability to work independently when needed and stay curious enough to ask strong questions.
