Job Description

Lead global brand creative for Color Wow and Pulp Riot in a matrixed, executive-reviewed environment.

Responsibilities

  • Own the visual and conceptual identity for Color Wow and Pulp Riot.
  • Co-create with marketing and digital partners, contributing to a shared P&L and maintaining an equal seat at the table.
  • Serve as the senior creative voice and lead a team of two direct reports across the brands.
  • Partner directly with Brand Presidents and senior stakeholders.
  • Navigate the third round of concept revisions to sharpen outcomes without flattening the work.
  • Defend a creative stance to a Brand President while authentically integrating feedback.
  • Deliver in-the-moment, “kind-but-clear” feedback to a direct report when work misses the mark, and follow through with accountability if improvements are not made.
  • Lead end-to-end creative across global hero films, retail vision, packaging direction, and in-salon activations.
  • Facilitate productive conversations with difficult partners and find paths forward that reduce escalation.
  • Manage two distinct creative voices at once, knowing when Color Wow needs a big lift and when Pulp Riot requires stepping back to let creators lead.
  • Partner with the SVP to evolve in-house production capabilities and AI-augmented workflows.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of creative direction experience.
  • Meaningful experience inside a global, matrixed organization (CPG, beauty, fashion, luxury, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience managing creative teams of 2+ direct reports, including performance management.
  • A portfolio showing both conceptual range and the ability to scale ideas across a full campaign ecosystem.
  • A strong, current point of view on the beauty industry and the broader cultural landscape.
  • Comfort presenting and defending work to senior executives.
  • Authorization to work in the United States on a full-time, permanent, ongoing basis.
  • No immigration support or sponsorship is offered for this role.

Team and Bar

  • Lead a core team of two direct reports across Art Direction and Video/Photo.
  • Accountable for team growth, performance, and the ultimate quality of output.
  • Resilience: concepts that survive heavy review without losing their edge.
  • Craft Fluency: credibility directing film, photography, design, and emerging digital formats.
  • Modern Sensibility: curiosity and confidence with AI to sharpen the creative pipeline.
  • Cultural Point of View: a clear stance on what is happening in the world and why it matters to the brands.

Operating Environment

  • Global organization where ideas pass through complex layers of executive review before reaching market.
  • Requires a blend of conceptual brilliance and organizational fitness: building trust with non-creative peers while defending the integrity of edgy ideas.

Location and Practicalities

  • New York, NY (hybrid).
  • Travel for shoots and on-location work as needed.
  • Office presence: three days a week for eligible full-time employees as an essential function of office-based roles.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary range: $147,100 - $213,300 per year (based on work experience, education, and skill level).
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Paid parental leave.
  • Hybrid work environment.
  • Growth opportunities within a global organization, including partnership with senior leadership and exposure to AI-augmented creative production.

Diversity and Inclusion

  • L’Oréal USA is an equal opportunity employer.
  • Committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
  • All qualified applicants receive consideration without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or any other protected characteristic.
