Art Director, Studio & Editorial
Job Description
The Art Director, Studio & Editorial is responsible for setting and maintaining the photography visual standard at True Religion, ensuring day-to-day creative execution for PDP imagery and leading art direction across editorial campaigns, capsule collections, and special projects. This role requires on-set presence and a strong commercial and editorial sensibility to support high-volume, brand-ready content.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct art direction for all PDP photography across Women’s, Men’s, Curve, Accessories, Footwear, and Denim, including daily guidance on posing, composition, framing, lighting, and image quality.
- Build and continuously refine visual standards and creative guidelines for product photography, identifying opportunities to improve the customer shopping experience.
- Partner with the Creative Director on seasonal campaigns and editorial concepts, including mood boards, shoot treatments, casting direction, and creative presentations.
- Serve as primary Art Director for capsule collections, collaborations, social content, and select editorial productions, managing creative execution from initial brief through final asset delivery.
- Create and maintain Capture One sessions, manage file and folder structure, and support digital capture workflows to keep daily studio operations efficient.
- Review image selects and provide creative feedback throughout retouching to ensure final assets meet brand standards for color, consistency, and quality.
- Research fashion, photography, and cultural trends to bring fresh perspective and innovative direction to the brand’s visual identity.
- Collaborate across teams including Photography, Styling, Production, Merchandising, Marketing, and Retouching throughout each production.
Required Experience
- 5-8 years of art direction experience in fashion, apparel, or lifestyle brands.
- Proven track record leading high-volume e-commerce photography productions.
- Expert understanding of photography disciplines including lighting, composition, styling, posing, and image selection.
- Experience providing on-set creative direction to photographers, stylists, hair and makeup artists, and models.
- Working knowledge of Capture One, including session setup, file organization, and basic digital capture workflows.
- Strong organizational and project management skills in a fast-paced studio environment.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Role Details
- Location: El Segundo, CA (hybrid)
- Salary: USD 115,000 - 140,000 per year
- Position type: Full-time, exempt/non-exempt
- Work model: Hybrid, with expectation of in-office presence on designated days to support collaboration and business needs.
- Employment eligibility: Employment is contingent upon meeting applicable employment eligibility requirements.
- Compensation note: The anticipated base salary range for this role is $115,000 – $140,000.
