Job Description

Kilgore College, located in Kilgore, Texas, invites applications for a part-time adjunct instructor in the Visual Arts and Graphic Design program. This on-site role centers on Digital Media and Animation instruction, with opportunities to influence student learning through curriculum development, assessment, and ongoing professional growth. Online course certification through the KC Faculty Innovation Center is required within the first year. The schedule commonly includes afternoon and evening teaching, and there are avenues to engage in dual credit high school coursework as well as online, hybrid, or remote class development. The campus emphasizes a collaborative, professional culture and supports faculty with industry-standard tools. This position carries workers’ compensation and a limited part-time retirement plan.

Responsibilities

  • Teach one or more Digital Media and Animation courses, such as 2D/3D animation, motion graphics, digital illustration, character design, or video production.
  • Guide students and assess their progress within assigned areas.
  • Remain current with developments in the field, including new animation and design tools and instructional methods.
  • Participate in appropriate professional development activities.
  • Follow and uphold academic policies of the college, division, and department, and explain policies clearly to students.
  • Develop, maintain, and align syllabi with course objectives.
  • Collaborate with administration to establish classroom management guidelines.
  • Communicate instructional material needs and professional development requirements to the chair or dean.
  • Maintain a harmonious and collegial relationship with faculty and staff.
  • Uphold professional conduct and appearance in all interactions.
  • Administer student evaluations of courses in accordance with college policy.
  • Attend conferences and seminars to stay current in the field.
  • Teach during afternoons and/or evenings (non-peak times).
  • Teach dual credit classes in high schools.
  • Develop and teach web-based courses, as well as hybrid or remote formats.
  • Utilize instructional technology in the classroom.
  • Complete online course certification through the KC Faculty Innovation Center within the first year.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or higher with a minimum of eighteen graduate hours in Arts.
  • Professional experience in animation, digital media production, motion graphics, or a related creative discipline.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard software such as Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects, Photoshop, Premiere), Autodesk Maya, Blender, Toon Boom, or comparable tools.
  • Preference given to applicants with college teaching experience.
  • Strong technical skills, a solid foundation in Visual Arts, and a commitment to teaching excellence at the college level.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work in a classroom or instructional lab environment and interact professionally with a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students.
  • Capacity to handle high levels of stress.
