Job Description
Join Penn State's VAST Summer Art Studio at the Penn State Altoona campus to lead a hands-on digital media and graphic design workshop for high school students. This onsite summer role offers competitive pay, the opportunity to mentor emerging designers, and a collaborative studio environment. You will guide students through logo design concepts and hands-on vinyl cutting and heat-press production, helping them translate ideas into print-ready files.
What you'll do
- Plan and deliver three structured 3-hour workshop sessions
- Introduce foundational graphic design concepts such as vector graphics, typography, and layout
- Guide students in Adobe Illustrator
- Prepare files for vinyl cutting and heat press application
- Provide individual feedback and maintain a safe, organized digital workspace
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Digital Media, Studio Art, or related field
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator
- Teaching or workshop experience
- Experience working with high school students

Program details and compensation
- Location: Penn State Altoona
- Camp Dates: July 13 – 17, 2026
- Digital Media Workshop Dates: July 14, 16, and 17, 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
- Total Sessions: 3, 3-hour sessions (plus a ½ session on the first day)
- Compensation: $200 per session, $700 total

- Federal FBI Fingerprint Criminal Background Check
